Morning all,
It's my birthday today so I'm determined not to be gloomy
Thank you for all the good wishes, you have no idea how much that helps. In laws came over yesterday and we had a good chat. They have said they can help us financially so that we don't lose the house, it is a huge relief. I had to go back to work but they stayed and chatted to DH and he was like a changed man when I got home. He took me for dinner last night and we had a nice meal and a good chat about a lot of things. Onwards and upwards as JackieO would say.
Unfortunately one of the school jobs replied saying due to restructuring the post has been withdrawn. Still waiting to hear on the other one and will carry on looking.
Hugs to TA - not nice waiting for results.
Lainey - hope the sniffles don't turn into something worse and that you get to see mum today xx
Hugs to anyone I've missed xx
May go to a national trust garden later as we have membership for another six weeks (have cancelled direct debit for next year). Hoping the weather holds.
Have a good day all,

Lainey that bit about you sobbing on Bill's shoulder made me tear up , animals are so understanding aren't they ? hugs xx
xx[/QUOTE]
Sorry redrubyyes, animals are such a comfort aren't they. My big boy and my dogs have seen me through a number of hard times over the years. That's why I tend to look quite askance at the harder nosed horsey people who don't understand why I have kept Bill even though he can no longer be ridden. Why would I walk away from one of my best friends and leave him to an unpredictable future, it's simply not an option.
Am just listening to R4 and they are talking about people's " happy places " - one of mine would definitely have to be in Bill's stable, so peaceful, just the sound of him happily munching hay and the unique horsey smell, you either love it or.........don't know, has never happened with me :rotfl:0 -
Happy Birthday Coxy :bdaycake: hope you enjoy your day and blessings for a better year for you xx0

I have just been browsing and found superdrug have shower gel for 49 pence with free postage so have placed a large order. When family come round and stay over it is a shock how fast we use up shower gels, shampoo etc. It also means I am stocked up for winter so don't need to dash out or carry heavy bags home so very pleased.
I want to store things in the wardrobe in the garage so they can be found easily and used up properly. At the moment I am still opening the last few moving in boxes and sorting them.
I even treated myself to a heated brush with the money I saved as the worzel gummidge look is not an elegant one and I am hopeless at conventional blow drying.

I would have loved a multi stove and the house I bought had one installed but found out it (like everything else) had been bodged and was starting to set fire to the wall  I now have a sleek and modern electric fire instead as my youngest made the very good point that if I was feeling a bit tired or poorly I did not want to have to start laying a fire etc. After a bit of arguing I decided she had a point.

Hi
Our house isn't on the market yet, there is a bit of brickwork outside that needs repairing, my L&M was going to do it today but it's raining so he can't.
We are just going to a couple open house events to get a feel for what we want.

Happy Birthday from me too Coxy. Have a lovely day.
I picked up bargains I wasn't expecting after the hairdressers this morning! Walking back to the bus station I noticed Clintons had a big sign up "All cards £1". Of course I had to have a nosey, expecting it to be just on sale cards etc. But no, ALL cards £1! Even the £10 ones in boxes! I really went to town, getting a beauty for the forthcoming wedding, as well as Christening cards, sympathy cards (well you never know!) and loads of birthday cards. Only picking out the most expensive ones!! I spent £34 but I added up the original price and they would have cost well over £100. Mr TA has a big family and everybody sends everybody else a birthday card so I can never have enough. They'll think I have come into money when they receive these posh, expensive cards compared to what I usually send!
Of course I had to text DD and let her know so when she had dropped middle DGD at ballet she joined me with the other two girls. She spent even more than me! By the time we left the queue at checkout was huge and the shop heaving. I bet the racks are empty by closing time!
Just had a quick bagel sandwich and mug of soup each when I got home. Planning on a chicken curry for tea so will get that underway shortly.
CSARINA I'm another that could do with losing a lot of clutter. I think HESTER could offer her services out now as a professional declutterer as she sounds to have got it off to a fine art!
Well, the jobs won't do themselves so better get myself moving. Might just have a look on Superdrug's site first though - thanks ELONA! The tarantula is still in hiding but Mr TA is on red alert to dash in on my first scream! I was telling the hairdresser and she says she has had quite a lot of huge ones too. Aaargh!
Enjoy the rest of the day if you can folks xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Afternoon.
The weather forecast for today was sunny and breezy - perfect for a washing load so I gathered up all the lights / whites I could and got them out. A passing bird has done whoopsie on the duvet cover so that's back in the machine for a quick wash.
I've been prepping all the bits of paper I need for the start of my new (two hour a week) job. Striving to be paperless is all very well but it all still needs made into Word documents to start with. I'll not be accepting of bits of paper from my students!
Coxy - happy birthday to you, I really hope you can enjoy it despite the woes. You and your husband have got a good support team behind you so keep looking forward.
Right, more stuff to do! I'm just waiting for the quick wash to go through so I can get the duvet cover out again as I want to get it dry today.0 -
Afternoon all!
Miserable drizzly day here!
This morning has been quite expensive...bought a kenwood chefette as it had been reduced from £60 to £35 and I get 10% staff discount off of that too,my daughter has been doing a lot of baking and making and wants to do more,I'll also use it for some things so figure it's a good investment.
Whilst we were there I also noticed a sandwich toaster reduced to £7 so got one of those too...my daughters love toasties and my husband took our old one ( and indeed the kenwood chef we used to have!) when he left. It's a lovely feeling replacing things with money I actually have though and knowing they are mine!
Lazyish afternoon watching the Paralympics and soccer Saturday and the smell of baking as daughter couldn't wait to try out the chefette so has banana bread in the oven as we speak!
Happy birthday Coxy, hope you manage to enjoy your day x0 -
Hello, my post this morning was very brief and this one will be too, I just wanted to say happy birthday to Coxy and also positive vibes for your husband's and Cafekate's husband's job search.
Also LaineyT, yes very much so about how comforting animals can be. My little dogs have long gone to that great basket in the sky and I miss them so much, when they were alive they comforted me through all kinds of woes. Now I have no little dog to luck away my tears so to speak, I actually almost never cry, I can't.
I've done 3 hours work, will complete my piece of work tomorrow, too tired now and anyway I now have some lovely white wine. Because it is Saturday.
The weather man said it would rain all day and he wasn't far wrong.
OH cooking vast amounts of meat for him and DS and a nice little piece of salmon for me.
See you tomorrow.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
