leaving Virgin broadband

I would like to leave Virgin broadband because of price increases. They say I have a discount in place therefore I cannot leave without incurring a fee of £200 plus. Is this true?

If they have sent you a letter, notifying you of a price increase, you can leave.

I spoke to another person with Virgin, and got a better deal which I have taken. My 200 Mbits was going from £33.25 up to £45 (because of discounts ending half way through my contract). So instead I have scaled right back to 50 Mbps for £24.25 for 12 months which should suit me.

When I spoke to the guy on the phone, I asked him to email me confirmation of the change of package, I have not received the email. Also when I log into my online account it is still showing the old package, how long should it take to update? Otherwise I will have to contact them again next week.

They have been posting them out recently.

Check it carefully when it arrives, to make sure it matches what you though it would be.
