This £28 for a 20kg bag in my local cash and carry, so this works out at £18.80 for the same amount, and that's even before I've started using coupons!

Tilda rice is individually sorted at their own processing plant in london - each grain is individually sorted and is only sold under the tilda brand if a grain is whole - broken grains are sold under different brand names/own brands.

Basmati rice is ideal for biryanis, and has a unique flavour and the starch content means it isn't as sticky as other types of rice.

Tilda Basmati is the best in the market - If you want the best price look in Asian shops - they tend to sell in bulk - 5KG, 10KG etc.. obviously the more you buy the cheaper it is.


Incidentally the older the rice becomes the better it tastes. In Asian countries people will buy rice a year ahead to allow it to age. As the rice ages, it breaks down the starch structure and gives a fuller flavour

And now the bad news: I did check my local huge 24 hour Asda (Park Royal) and they don't carry the 2kg size at all for the regular Tilda rice and all the other sizes are "normal" price including the 20kg bag. There were no shelf edge labels for the 2kg size either (I suppose they might have removed them if they sold out, but there were other empty paces with labels still there). They do have an offer on the 2kg speciality Tilda rices but these were £3 a pack.

I wonder if it was a local offer or if others have found it in their Asdas?

Could'nt find the deal in my local ASDA for Tilda but bought the other one on offer "Badshah Basmati" tastes just like Tilda..
