Eon Smart Meter

Very many thanks, Malc, for the answers and for the explanations; not least after I had confessed that my questions were only academic and were posed out of mere curiosity.
All most interesting and helpful information.
Of course, if E.ON now decides to screen out its existing customers from future collective fix offerings and squeezes them into switching elsewhere at the end of their existing fixes, an ever increasing number of present generation E.ON smart meters are going to be lobotomised by their lack of compatibility with the smart meter systems of the new supplier to whom the customer becomes obliged to switch.
That, perhaps, is another point you should feed back to those who decided to enrol E.ON into the Dishonourable Club of discriminatory collective offerings.
It's certainly another reason why I don't want to have them at all!
And it will certainly make other E.ON customers who were considering having them installed now regard them as pointless.0
