Why do some schools have tie and blazer uniforms?

Hi why do some schools have very expensive uniforms? Me and my sister in law could not believe that my nices uniform cost atleast double the cost of my sons uniform. My son has just started year 7 and my nice has just started year 10 they go to different schools.
My sons uniform
School jumper
School polo shirt
School trousers
Plain black footwear

My nices uniform
School blazer
School tie
School shirt
School trousers
Strictly leather school shoes

I don't know the exact price each item cost on my nices uniform I think the blazer alone nearly cost just as much as my sons full uniform

Any school that had a policy of 'strictly leather school shoes' as opposed to black Shoe Zone plimsolls has my vote.

Reminds me of an old doll who lived in Putney who was totally fixated by the time. You might meet her in mc D's or the bus stop and she would ask the time. Then 10 secs later ask again, and again and again.........

One early morning she collared me to help her set the clocks in her flat as she couldn't reach them and the clocks had gone back. So in I went and there was at least 20 of them. Of course time I finished she was insistent that the first was wrong so I had to start again

Yes my nices school has a strict policy on all of the uniform especially school shoes
