I have got my face to face in 10 days,(got the letter today) and I am DREADING it. :-(
Good luck Magenta!
Have you had help filling in your form? I used help from the Benefits and Work website. You have to pay, but it was using their advice and form filling stuff that got me from 2 year awards (which I had to go to Tribunal for back in the late 90s) to a lifetime DLA around 12 years ago at which point was able to get Motability car. Just checked their website and it's £19.95 for a year's subscription. For me it was well worth the money. Given what we're all up against we need all the help we can gat!
I really hope you have somebody to attend the meeting with you. My husband came with me - drove me there. At least when I got the report he was able to tell me that I really did say "I have no stamina", totally the opposite of what the assessor reported.
Try not to stress too much about it. The woman I saw was polite and just a bit too much friendly. We know more about her garden, bee friendly plants, the kind of insecticide she uses (and then she wonders why her bee friendly plants have no bees!), her grandchildren and how the 8 year old boy chases the 5 year old girl with worms to scare her! Where's the Rolls Eyes smiley when you need it! :rotfl:
Remember they're trying to catch you out all the time. But I did what my Grandmother told me to do when I was little - "Tell the Truth and shame the Devil". I didn't lie at all in that meeting, yet she seemed to think I did.
Sorry, prob not exactly filling you with confidence now! But just thought better to alert you.
I don't know what your difficulties are. I have ME/CFS. Which they think they can just say you can do stuff that you really can't. If that makes any sense? Not only can I walk between 20 and 50 metres (based on her seeing me in a wheelchair the whole meeting and not standing or walking) I can also cook a meal "with aids". Yeah, my "aid"is my husband who does all the cooking.
Anyway, very best of luck to you! I'm sending you "The Vibes" already, and will continue to do so. Have a few cyber hugs too if you feel able to accept them. Will be thinking of you!0 -
I am on an indefinite award & recently got told i'll be last to be migrated, due to that. They said 12-18 months before I get summoned, and that was in July, i'm in Leicestershire0

Was on indefinite DLA, higher mobility & middle care, transferred to PIP (started March, decision made August) with an ongoing award of enhanced for both. Also North West England.0

I'm in Cheshire and on an indefinite DLA award
I received my PIP form in April and had face to face in August, I got a letter from them a couple of days ago to say they have all my info and will be making a decision soon
Fingers and everything else crossed, I'm worried but can only wait for their decisionIf you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything. - Mark TwainNappies and government ministers need to be changed frequently and for the same reason0 -

I have a Motability car that is due to go back in October (It was a 5 year lease due to low mileage) and got the PIP letter in July. Had to return home from holiday in Wales for the Face to Face, which was such a disaster that I've complained to ATOS. Very first thing the so-called Assessor reported was the exact opposite of what I said. Oh, I requested the Health Practitioner Report, which is how I know she lied.
Motability have been very helpful. When I got the letter my husband rang them up (I have problems using the phone) and they have increased the lease by 6 months in hopes that things will be settled one way or the other by then.
I expect to lose my car from what the assessor has written in her report. Despite the fact I arrived in a wheelchair, and didn't get out of it in the meeting, she says I can walk more thant 20 metres but less than 50. I'm trying to work on my mandatory reconsideration letter, but fully expect to have to go to Tribunal.
Make sure you have someone with you when you are called to the face to face meeting.
Forgive me, but I thought that once you reached 65 you didn't have to have any assessments? I am 58 and I was hoping that if I am awarded PIP after my assessment, then that would be the final time I would have to fill any more more forms in or talk to a complete stranger (ATOS) about my ailments.
How horrible for you. It sounds like you have had and are still having, a rough time. It's all so upsetting for everyone.0 -

Thank you missymum for your kind words.
The age thing... Anyone under the age of 65 on 8th April 2013 who had DLA is re-assessed for PIP. I missed out on staying on DLA by around 5 months.
I'm finding it all very stressful. I'd got close to giving up smoking, down from 40 a day to around 10 a week, using vapes. Gone back to the ciggies now!Even before the PIP stuff I was having difficulty eating, now I'm finding it very hard to manage more than one meal a day, and have problems getting that down. It's the waiting for that brown envelope to drop through the door, knowing that it's probably going to mean I lose my car. I will, of course, go for Mandatory Reconsideration, and to Tribunal if I have to.
I am fortunate in that when my husband replaced his car last December he purchased one that is possible for me to use, since we've been expecting the PIP letter for a while. As well as the ME/CFS I have a back condition that makes it more or less impossible for me to get into a "normal" car, so for the last 12 years I've had Renault Grand Scenics from Motability. To mitigate the back pain I have heated front seats - which I seem to be using even in the summer! :rotfl: Of course this summer's been a bit rubbish, but even so I've surprised myself by how much I need the heated seat!
If I do get to have another Motability car I won't be getting a Renault as the current car has been a nightmare with stuff going wrong with it. Last summer we had 3 different hire cars across about 3 months while faults were fixed. And now we have a fault with the petrol filler cap - it won't unlock! Fortunately the RAC man who came to look at it was able to do a sort of fix, but we had to wait weeks to get the local Renault place to look at it, and now we're waiting again for them to get the part in! Plus the driver's door handle is playing up, so they're going to have to replace that too! Grrr!
Sorry, blathering on again! :rotfl:
I sincerely hope I won't have to go through the PIP thing again, but suspect will be recalled some time in the future... Going by the points assessor awarded me I'd get Low Care and Low Mobility. I believe I should get the higher rate on both, but just will have to wait and see what the Decision Maker decides!
Oh, one other thing I picked up on was that apparently they are picking people randomly for DLA to PIP assessment. Though I rather think they expect to complete those assessments by 2017.
Good luck to you missymum when the brown envelope of doom drops through your letterbox! The PIP descriptors are very different to DLA ones, do bear that in mind.0 -

Forgive me but how can this be the case?
Nobody knows when they will be reasessed. Its just any time between now & 2018 as far as I was aware.
It would be good if we all knew so we could plan ahead.(c) Broke in Yorkshire. ( there are worse places )

Hi there, I'm in South yorkshire and had an indefinite award of DLA - high rate mobility and low rate care.
I got the dreaded brown envelope a few weeks back and have gone through filling in and returning the form (ouch!) and had a home assessment just last Thursday.
I'm feeling confident but you never know with these things, when people far more severely disabled than I get turned down and people with very minor impairments are accepted.
I've had a text today from DWP telling me they have all the info they need to make a decision and will be sending me a letter.0 -

I know exactly how you feel. I remember a news item a while ago about a woman,I think her name was Christine, she was an amputee because of a condition she was born with and had always recieved high rate DLA,then moved to PIP and was turned down! I compare myself to people like that and don't consider myself to be as disabled as these unfortunate ones, which then makes me think I will definitely be refused PIP.
Who knows what's going to happen? I am already preparing for the worst.
I hope the decision falls in your favour. Let's hope your next 'brown envelope of doom' has good news!0 -
Most people only post horror stories,
I decided not to wait and go for PIP, I was on lower care and mobility, the PIP assessment was fair and when I requested the nurses report she was fair,
When I got my PIP award the DWP decision maker gave me the exact points the nurse did which then put me in the higher rate for care and mobility,
Not many people tent to post the outcome of a fair PIP assessment but post plenty of negative one's which I can understand why with the way some people have been treated,
Always ask for the assessor's report three days after the assessment It's called PA4 V3.0
