  • Henckels knives are good. I absolutely see the "Gulp!" at Just How Much but when you are still using them in another decade, they really do repay the investment.
Of Course use every MSE trick to bring the price down a bit - even 5% off is nice (any posh kitchen kit shops opening or closing near you?), so might emailing them and saying how much you enjoy their kit possibly lead to an emailed token?
Might a very Carefully Used Storecard get you a percentage off? (Of course then pay it all off as their APRs are fearsome, but do see what folk are selling for, where & whether there is any scope for negotiation!)
  • Another vote for good quality pans. My stainless Le Vrai Gourmet pans will be 30 years old next year and I still love them to pieces. In fact I would love to change to an induction hob but the thought of having to get new pans has put me off as these ones are barely worn in.

Each to their own as said. I personally buy stuff from ikea. Got induction pans £5 for 3 stainless steel ones. Perfectly working after 2.5 years.....

I'm actually using IKEA ones ATM ( emergency buy after having the kitchen fitted with an induction hob) and to be honest, whilst serviceable , they aren't good

There's hot spots, some are discoloured where I've used them for deep frying. Some are better then others but as a whole, no , if you cook a lot from scratch, I wouldn't recommend them

Great for boiling veg etc But for sauces and deep frying, nope
  • Have you looked at the Ikea 365 ones?

I have a couple I've been using for several years now and they haven't disappointed me. They have a heavier base and are generally more robust.

Another vote here for Global knives. But dont rush out and buy a full set, go to a shop, feel them in the hand, and buy one, or two. I have a few, but in all honesty, only really use one or two on a regular basis, the rest, well just sitting there looking pretty and in honesty, were a waste of money.
