I have opinions, you have opinions. All of our opinions are valid whether they are based on fact or feeling. Respect other peoples opinions, stop forcing your opinions on other people and the world will be a happier place.
Phone development is much more iterative now and the points could be applied equally to the Galaxy S6-S7, Sony Xperia, HTC M range, Google Nexus range and other high end smartphones.
Just a few years ago we would never have believed how much that slim piece of metal / plastic in your pocket could do. And the high end phones from a few years ago still can.
If you're happy with what your phone does then there is no reason to rush to upgrade but if your phone is more than a couple of years old then maybe. Having said that my Fiance is using an iPhone 5S running the latest software and is more than happy with its performance.
Comparing the purchase to a flight to Australia is Apples to Oranges (excuse the pun). The flight is gone in 48 hours, you have to spend significantly more after the flight to do anything other than see the airports at both ends. My phone is used every day and is indispensible.
I just sold my iPhone 6 for £315, I could not do that with a flight to Australia. So the new phone is really costing me £385.
So you fly to Australia, turn around and fly back to the UK (you don't have any money for hotels or tours in that amount, do you?).
When you get back to Heathrow, what do you have for your money?
It's a stupid analogy and that's from someone who thinks the new iPhone is now beyond the point of acceptable expense and won't be buying one this year.
