No other charger from me, other (current) laptop isn't HP... and the friends (who I assumed might) don't have a HP either. Plum. It's a looser isn't it... *smacks self*

It's a HP NX6310 - supposedly working and with hard drive, but it certainly didn't. Cheap like £6... I took a risk, assuming a working laptop with a hard drive. Was wrong... booo... but now no idea if it's worth trying to fix or if I should give up on it.
    I would suspect you've lost £6...

Yea, innit... ahh well, worth a go for £6. I tried - would have annoyed me more to hear someone else got it and managed to fix it up, me missing out hehe

  • It looks to be the motherboard or insufficient power going to the charger. Knowing the flashing sequence would pin point exactly the cause.

I'll buy the laptop off you for £6 :D:D:D

Take it apart, and you'll be able to sell the bits separately on eBay for way more than that.

RAM chips will easily fetch that
Someone somewhere will want the keyboard to replace the one they spilt coffee on
Someone somewhere will need a new screen
    etc

Hehe - thanks, but I'll keep it for now, and in 6 months remember I have it and get annoyed and try selling it.

Hmm. There's power in there, hence the flashing power light I guess. For a £6 computer, you should definitely check if there's actually an HDD present. And for that matter, the lack of switching on could be down to someone having already taken the RAM! Error beeps would be more likely, but you never know.

It had no harddisk for sure, I had a friend who sent me one but it does the same error with that in (same light flashing, no beeps). How do I check on the RAM..is it in a different part? Sorry - this might be a really simple change but I literally haven't a clue...there is another "pocket" at the back...

I will google! Ta for info... RAM... heard of it but no idea about it :D
