Could you put material over the vacuum handle like a bandage?
Would taking anti histamines help?
I have had some tea and dishwasher is on while I browse on here.
I find I have been sleeping much better this last week so fingers crossed it stays that way for a while.
Lainey
I am so glad your Mum is in less pain and that the operation will give her a little longer.
The laundry will be hung outside to dry in a few minutes and I will get myself in gear and tidy kitchen and take mince or steak out of the freezer to cook a meal tonight. Considering steak and healthy chips with veg or else making a cottage pie which can be portioned and frozen. Middle dd e mailed me last night to say she had eaten my lasagne and really enjoyed it.

I think we'll have gammon steaks for tea tonight, they'll be quick once the little'un has gone.Apparently he didnt want to get up this morning and his Mum delivered him in his PJs,usually he stays here overnight when I mind him for the day then its not such an early start.Expecting grumpiness later
Snoozer, sorry to hear about your allergy.I get plagued from time to time with odd rashes etc,as do DS2 and the DGC.Last week all round my hairline was itching like mad and face & neck were red,& now my skin is flaky and so dry- no idea what set it off but its not itchy anymore. I do know that my LED lamp for my nails sets me off itching,I now wear rubber gloves with a nail shaped hole cutoutand only do them for special occasions.
Right off to feed the ducks etc-have the best day you can xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

Lainey - echoing what the other ladies have said, hun. Bright blessings to you and your Mum. x
Been into town to get my new medication - not replacing anything, this is yet another added into the mix.Gabapentin; trouble is, having read the l-o-n-g list of nasty possible side-effects, I'm scared to take it.
They include, among a load of other nasties, depression, anxiety, and some people get thought of self-harm/suicide, apparently. I struggle with that little lot on a daily basis already, can't afford to have it made worse. What to do? What to do?

Lainey my dear, I am so glad your Mum was brave enough to have the op. and give you some more precious time together, treasure every day extra honey, and I will remember you and your family when I chat to the Big Guy tonight. Don't forget to eat properly yourself, as you must summon up as much strength as you can in the coming weeks

Afternoon - I survived the day with my patience intake!
Lainey - lovely to hear that your Mum pulled through OK. Take the time to be with her, I wish I'd had some time with my brother and lately my nephew.
I put a washing out before I left this morning and, joy, it's dried. The sun is still bravely shining out from under the clouds. I've just finished doing some online banking, I have to concentrate otherwise I get everything muddled even though I have great notes and a spreadsheet. Interest rates are so dreadfully low these days that I struggle to find a good rate anywhere.
I didn't eat my packed lunch so that's sitting waiting for me. For now I think I deserve a cup of tea.0 -
LAINEY how brave of your mum to have her op.
LAMEWOLF hope Gabapentin helps you unfortunately it made me jittery, so I'm on Lycria for my nerve pain.
Sorry I went Awol . I've been away to Cornwall for 2 weeks taking our caravan and both kayaks !Weather was mixed but we had a lovely relaxing time. Visited beaches lots. I had a bit of alone time as due to my mobility difficulties I'm not climbing down cliffs to go body boarding. Managed to get to 2 carboots where my cookery book collection grew. My best buys were a pair of Vans for my daughter for a pound and the entire scripts of Dads Army for 25p. Beaches were reasonable but the ice creams were expensive so a few times we just went Waitrose for bits and got a box of 4 as well as our free coffees and newspapers. A few takeaways, pasties , and a trip to Wetherspoons so not too expensive.
My knee swelled up on journey home so was in a lot of pain yesterday. Finding it taking longer to dry washing so still have tons to do and as for the ironing. Husband had his interview for a promotion at work today so hope to hear from that asap as if he is unlucky his present job won't exist. Kids back at school today to a brand-new layout of day ie shorter lunch, something called Rise instead of registration so expecting a few hiccups to say the least.
Hugs to those who want/ need them.0 -
LAINEY relieved for you that the op last night went as well as it could. Extra time with a loved one is so precious. My dear dad went suddenly in his sleep - in bed beside my mum. It's many years ago now but I still feel cheated that we didn't get the extra time to tell him how much we loved him and say a final goodbye. Thinking of you all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Lainey - Hope your DMum is comfortable, love and hugs to all of you. XX0
