Morning, thanks for the thread Hester X

Speky was taking a holiday before starting his new job I believe.

    Nmlc - glad you're feeling a bit brighter X
csarina - the new wet room will be lovely but so disruptive for you, sorry hon xx
Hester - hope you have a better day today X

DH went to meet some friends last night so I took myself off for a bath at 830 and was in bed for 9. Feel better for a longer nights sleep. DH has just gone off to his IV - starts at 9 so he will be super early but better than 10 mins late.

I saw another couple of school office jobs advertised last night - senior school about 20 mins drive away. I will apply later as couldn't face it last night. Some of you work in schools. Am I deluded in thinking this will be better for me?! I'm consoling myself that the term time only status will mean I get a proper break every 6-7 weeks.

    Have a good day all

  • Morning folks. Thanks for starting the thread HESTER. Hope today is less manic for you. I seem to remember, when we got back from our hol, that someone was wishing Speky a good holiday but I missed where he was going.

Glorious start here, thank goodness, as I have been postponing stripping the beds in readiness for this mini return of summer that's been promised. As soon as Mr TA vacates our bed the linen is off in the wm and then out on the line. Followed by the bedding from the DGD's beds.

I need to pop down to Asda later to collect a large photo order I left on Sunday. I detest that place but it's now the only place we have that does them. Boots have the machines that print them instantly and Sainsbobs did away with their photographic section altogether. I think most folk just seem to keep their pics on their phones and there is little demand for prints. I am of the old school and prefer to use my camera and put the prints in albums! I do have some on my phone but can't get them off! Probably I need a better phone! Sorry I am waffling!

Not given a thought to today's meals yet and all leftovers from the w/e have been eaten up. The 3 girls ate everything I made for them yesterday so no l/o's from them either. I'll do a freezer rummage shortly and see what tempts me.

Have a good day and (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed for you and yours. Take care all xx

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a dry day but a bit overcast. Yesterday was very drizzly so at least there is no rain for now. Girls had a good day in school although DD15 was moaning that she got given homework in her last lesson to be handed in this morning, so she was busy last night. DD16 loved sixth form so that was a huge relief for the both of us. DD's 13 and 16 looked very smart in their new uniform but wouldn't let me take any photos :rotfl:.

Hubby has not gone into work today as he isn't well again. He is back up to the hospital on Friday for a pre-op assessment before he has to have a colonoscopy a few days later. I am very worried but staying positive for him.

I have my friend coming over today hopefully as I haven't seen her for ages. I'm looking forward to a natter and sharing a cuppa. I am also excited because I hope my new sparkly wool will be arriving today with some new patterns too. I can't wait to get started on it as it's for stocking fillers for the girls.

My therapy was very upsetting for me again but in a good way I think as we discussed strategies for dealing with unhelpful thoughts. I have some homework to complete to take back in next time. I will carry on even though it's difficult as it may help me a lot in the future.

I had some leftover pork from Sunday so I found a good recipe to try on the grocery challenge 1st page. I have all the ingredients in so will experiment on the family later. My lasagne I cooked yesterday was lovely and well appreciated by everyone which was nice. I don't mind spending the time when that happens, it's when the moaning starts that I just think "bu**er it" and just cook something out of a box or packet.

ETA Sorry to read about your mum LaineyT, I really hope the operation is successful and she is more comfortable x

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning, ((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one.

Sunny morning, not my mood though, Wet room is finished as far as it goes, electrician coming tomorrow then I can clean up and get everything back into the cupboard. OK it will have to come out again when the heating people start, but by then hope to have all the stuff for the quilting groups last two sessions this year done. I am also waiting for the techie to come to this lap top. I am having to use Microsoft Edge, just cannot get back to the files, pictures etc and my money programme, I need that desperately to forecast how our finances go. I tried to load the programme from the external hard drive I use as a back up, it does not want to run it. I am damned if I am going to spend £34 to put on the programme that ME offers.

Fine morning, we are getting a key safe fitted this morning by the WRVS it will cost me but it will be worth it if at any time I am out and OH needs help, at least they will be able to get in.

OH has now got a pair of elbow crutches, he says he feels safer with them, Not sure how he is going to manage to pick tomatos, but we will see, of course I am going to have to go out with him............so I cannot do anything else. I am finding it very hard to have him rely on me so completly, I am used to him having some independance.

I need to mow the front grass this morning, it will soon be too long to cut, the green bin men come tomorrow so I can fill the bin up with grass cuttings.

Pasta for supper, the WRVS lady brought us a goodie bag, there were curry flavoured noodles in it which will go to DD2, I hate them, also a large bag off penne, some passata, tinned veg and fruit. I normally make my own passata, but decided to give this one a go. I will not use all the bottle, will freeze whats left, so bacon and tomato pasta, no garlic bread, we had it last week, so OH will have to make do with a cucumber salad.
  • Morning all
very warm and close here and my get up and go has gone both DH and I are shattered every day and we think its the dog as he sleeps on the bed and is continually moving and stretches out whilst we end up clinging onto the edge all squashed up . Hello my friends, just quickly jumping on line to post.

Mum came through the op last night, they managed to do keyhole so not so invasive. She spent all night in recovery but will hopefully be transferred back up to the ward at some point this morning. She seemed much brighter this morning, pain free for the first time in days and far more comfortable. After such an awful time yesterday when it was a matter of days now we possibly have weeks so time is so very precious.
Am shattered so going to try and catch a couple of hours sleep before going back.

Thank you for your kindness and positive thoughts xxx
  • That is good news Lainey, at least Mum is more comfortable now.

As we have said before every moment is precious.

Much love to you all and I hope she recovers well from the op

Lainey, I hope things continue to go as well as they can.

Dumpling, well done on carrying on despite it being so difficult, best wishes for you DH - I had a colonoscopy a couple of years ago and it was ok, I refused sedation and only had a few seconds of pain in the whole thing.

Coxy, I used to work in a school office and enjoyed it. I think every job depends on the people you work with, if you have nice colleagues it makes such a difference. It was great while the children were young to be at home when they were.

I have found that I have developed an allergy to plastic, over the last 2 weeks I have been getting itchy rashes and after carrying a water bottle for a few minutes realised that that was the culprit. I then realised that the first episode which was red, burning ears and itchy, red, swollen hands was caused by the phone in the Yorkshire house. I have suspicions about the vacuum handle as well. DH just says I'll have to wear gloves when vacuuming and a balaclava to answer the phone, lol.

Time to get on, I have lots to do today, preparing for our drive to Italy.
