So we went for the zoom groom ........ now how to convince him that a noxious pink rubber item is not a toy, whatever it looks like and needs to stay out of his gob.

I was going to suggest the zoom groom, I use one on my greyhound. If it proves too tempting as a dog-toy, there's also something called a hound-glove or pet grooming glove, which is basically a rubber mitten with a pimply section. Good for sensitive short-haired types. (Though as I write this, I'm thinking, maybe I could just use ordinary rubber gloves... hmmm... goes off to experiment...)

He's just been massaged into a state of bliss. Which means immobility, which can only be a good thing.
It's a little worrying how much fur came off in the process - he's going to be a somewhat bald Gitdog at this rate.
