Giblet's mortgage free journey

It was after the procedure. Started with chest pain about 15 mins after getting home and 111 insisted on an ambulance. Excellent all round I have to say (NHS staff rule).
Thanks both. Just got a letter saying we've shaved another 2mths off the mortgage. Love my OP letters which they insist on sending when you OP by £500 and they reduce the term x Debt remaining: x Debt remaining:

Signature updated to reflect the same! So exciting My DH has gone out to buy a new laptop (planned expense, and what I categorise as an 'essential treat' as we spend so much time at home and using our comps). He rang me to check the one he was getting was okay (so cute) and before he went we were scheming and planning to get this mortgage paid down as quickly as possible, including trying to raise the funds to pay off the maximum allowed in this first 12mths (£13,600 which is 10% of the original loan). One option is to use savings which we've put aside to replace my car when it finally gives up (needed for work) and hope that I can build up enough again before it dies! I also suggested something that I've been thinking about for some time, but won't go into yet as I need to have a further think, and speak to someone else that it involves, but needless to say, we're thinking longer term past this mortgage to saving for our retirement. If we can pay off in 10 years (ideally 7) and all stays well with our health, we'll be doing very well My DH has gone out to buy a new laptop (planned expense, and what I categorise as an 'essential treat' as we spend so much time at home and using our comps). Hi, just got myself caught up on your diary, mind if I join? I love how committed you are to OP'ing! Made me think I need to get back on top of my mortgage and see where we are currently. My DH is less keen on the constant money chat but I know I could make some changes and chuck a bit more at it without him noticing!! Hey all,
 Hope everyone is well?
Lula! Lovely to hear from you! How's things? Good I hope
Katzen you are more than welcome and thanks for stopping by and your nice thoughts. I find the mortgage OP calculator, and talk of how many things can be done with all the years of income after mortgage payments was a great motivator for OH. To be fair, neither of us realised what can be achieved with just a bit more each month (well as much as we can squeeze out of the budget!) Do you have a diary I can read?
Newgirly - thanks I'm not too bad. A and E was fine really; they were nice, and I was already over the worst by the time I got there I'm not too bad. A and E was fine really; they were nice, and I was already over the worst by the time I got there
Dfod thanks - being knocked out (without the trip to hospital) is definitely the way to go sadly I've at least 2 more sessions hinted at; will know more after Friday.... sadly I've at least 2 more sessions hinted at; will know more after Friday....

Time for a bit of a money update. DH spent £200 less on his laptop after the first one was out of stock, so he looked in Tesco instead. The amazing man that he is came straight back home, and we OP'd the £200 to the mortgage. I'm a lucky girl!
I've also made a little OP tonight; I had to drive 80 miles between jobs at about 5pm, and hadn't managed to eat all day from leaving the house at 7am (I know; naughty). I popped into McDonalds (for the loo) but was intending to get a happy meal and a coffee for the onward journey. Instead my willpower was like iron, and I walked out and carried on to work
....okay the queue was really long and I couldn't be bothered waiting but that still counts right????.......
I intended to make a £2.50 OP but it ended up being £10 to keep the account tidy.....all good
Should be a low spend day tomorrow (not NSD as going to a concert so petrol, parking and a soft drink/coffee will be allowed).
Hope MSE'ing is going well for everyone?

Hi gib, glad you're feeling better. Well done on the willpower, thank goodness for long queues, I too find them a huge deterrent when it comes to spending money . I do have a diary but it's had a 3year gap In posting but I'd welcome a bit of company. I'll see if I can work out how to post you a link. Have a good day!
