Could you tell me if the car cleaning kit is useful and worth paying the extra for please.

No, I bought it and haven't used it. Garages are usually better and probably cheaper. Good idea in theory but no.

I didn't buy the car cleaning kit but I did buy the hand held (discounted when buying the air ram). That works a treat in the car & I'm very pleased with it.

  • Thank you both I will order them both together.....but not the car kit.
  • I'd love a cordless vacuum. Does anyone know how cordless vacuums compare to corded vacuums as far as how much electricity they use? They seem to need around 12 hours of charge to clean for 20 minutes. Is it not cheaper to use a corded one?

They only draw sufficient power to recharge the battery. This is typically 1400mAh, i.e. not a lot. http://www.dyson.co.uk/energy-ratings.aspx

I have a Dyson DC31 handheld which is great for stairs, quick spot cleans and the car. I have had it several years and the battery is fine. I only charge it when it needs it and don't leave it plugged in all the time. I bought this after I already had my main big Dyson because I needed to clean my car outside away from any power source.

My parents have a stick-style Dyson which is efficient, lightweight and has a good battery life.

I have both the corded and cordless Dyson and both have their uses. Like others have said I use the corded for a good deep clean and the cordless for everyday quick clean ups. Both serve me well and the cordless does extremely well in our 4 bed house.

My sister looks after my parents in their ground floor flat which is mostly carpeted. To make their lives easier I bought them a Vax cordless (only as it was on offer and has good specs). I was pleasantly surprised as to how much dust this thing actually pulls out of the carpet compared to the corded upright Dyson they have.

In fact I did a test of vacuuming first with the corded upright followed by the Vax cordless. I was amazed at how much more dust the Vax pulled out!

A bit ossesive? Maybe, but the cordless has made my parents and sister's life a lot easier and allows them to quickly vacuum the flat in one go before the battery goes flat.

With a dyson you MUST WASH THE FILTER! at least monthly as per handbook wash it pointy side up using cold water, let it dry natrually not on a rad.
If u need a new one the 2£ e bay chinese copy is fine!
