Hello,
I'm currently on the MSE September paperless tariff and have been told by Eon I will be placed on another tariff which will cost me quite a lot more pa.
I've decided to try separate suppliers and gone with Zog for gas as the price comparison looks very good.
I like the look of GB Energy prices for electric which are also very favourable but the reviews are absolutely dire.
Shall I chance them or will I be sorry?
I went with Martin's recommendation for TalkTalk broadband last year and it is the worst broadband I have ever had.:(
If I don't go with GB Energy has anyone good experience with cheap electric suppliers?

If you are worried about going with GB energy, who are the next chaepest supplier for you for electricity, and how much more over the year would they be charging you?
How much is a year's lack of worry, stress, etc worth to you?
Edit: it might be worth waiting for the MSE collective traiff to become available and see who wins that, and if that gives a cheaper cost for your leccy.
Martin has in the past said he won't offer a tariff unless it beats the generally available ones - lets hope he continues with this stance (although the small print says for an average user, so it may not be cheaper for you anyway)0 -
Hello Hargreaves1910 and welcome to the Forums.
Just a quick heads up. As you're currently on the E.ON MSE Fixed 1 Year Collective Sept 15, I suspect you're now within the Price Protection window. This is open 49 calendar days before a tariff ends until 20 working days after. During this time and provided we're told, we'll make sure you're protected against any price changes that aren't in your favour whilst a change of supplier goes through (usually takes about two and half weeks). Exit fees also don't apply when in this window.
Sorry to lose you Hargreaves1910 and hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies all.
I have decided to split suppliers and have gone with Zog for gas and Affect for electricity.
Thanks for the info Malc. I was with Eon a few years ago on the Age UK tariff and saved a fortune from my previous NPower account. Then moved away then back with the MSE tariff last year so shall probably see you again in the future. :beer:0 -
You're welcome Hargreaves1910. Glad to help.

So just a quick update on this.
I pay £28/month electric and £35.55 gas.
I was paying £96/month with Eon.
The online setup with Zog for the gas was very good. The setup with Affect wasn't quite so straightforward and had me wondering if I'd done it correctly. However everything went through ok and it's all working.
I can check my account with Affect online and it's all there for me to see. But I don't seem to be able to do it with Zog, I can enter meter readings and that appears to be all. Maybe there's something I'm missing, not sure but it's not a big deal at the moment.
Both companies encourage you to actively send meter readings so I try to about once a fortnight. They can then bill you for what you use without estimates.
So I'm glad I made the change as it's worked out ok for me.0 -

We have been with Zog since the beginning of the year and are very happy with the service.
Regarding what you can see on-line; with Zog, you don't. They send you a statement on about the 8th day of the month by email. We allways find it best to send in a reading on the last day of the month and then they use that for the statement. Wish they did electric too!0 -
I send meter readings when I remember, usually once a fortnight and both Zog and Affect have been great.0

Notwithstanding, of course, that what you use (and owe) is more relevant than what you pay each month. What are the actual tariff costs per unit kwh and standing charge? Perhaps e.on's charges were nearer to your actual usage?Mornië utulië0
