Parking Ticket for the court where i live

Hi Everyone

I live in a court of flats. The landowners/builders only provided 1 parking space per flat. Unfortunately like a lot of households in the UK we have more than 1 car, and like a lot of others that live in the court with more than 1 car, I park on the corners of the parking areas as there is no where else to park. I always park as considerately as possible and do not block any access. At the end of last year the landowners brought in a parking company to issue parking tickets to people that are not parked in an official spot. I received one of these parking tickets, and had spoken to a couple that also received 2 tickets (1 of which for parking in the visitors space, even though they would not have known if they were a visitor or resident. the visitors spaces are always used by residents as there is not enough places for all people with an extra car to park). After seeking advice from family and friends I ignored the parking ticket. The following month the company then sent a second letter which was a final notice. Again friends and family advised to ignore it. This company are no longer in charge of the parking in the court but I have now been sent a letter from a debt collectors company demanding me to pay by this Friday or they will recommend to the creditor that court action should be taken to recover what I owe.

(The parking company is a member of the IPC and the debt collectors are members of both the IPC and BPA)

Does anyone have any advice on what my next step should be?
Is it too late to appeal the ticket?
Will the debt collectors take me to court or come to my house to recover the money if I don't pay?

Any help would be appreciated.

  • The debt collectors will NOT take you to court.

    DRP/Zenith?
  • Thanks, the debt collectors are DRP yes. Will they be able to take court action of any kind against me?
Is it best for me to ignore them then?

Could you explain if you know, why the parking company no longer infest the car park ? Who was the parking company

DRP are just a bunch of "would be" debt collectors and it's been said 1000's of times on here and other such forums ... IGNORE THEM .... only the company issuing the ticket can take it further.

It is important to know why they are no longer there ... were they kicked out ?
  • The resident's of the court are divided. Those that live on their own or are able to only have 1 car don't like people parking where there isn't an official space. The others like me that have more than 1 car have no where else to park and will park there anyway as we have to and are unhappy with the lack of parking spaces. During a meeting with the residents those that only have 1 car complained that the company weren't doing a good enough job at issuing parking tickets as people were still parking where they could. So the landowners have taken the original company (G24) off the case and employed a different company.

Never heard of that before, lack of issuing tickets is not in the mind set of G24 ?

Who is the new pest they have taken on as depending who, this might well come back and bite the bum of one car owners.

As G24 are IPC members, even if you had appealed, chances you would have lost as that system is a well known sham run by very dodgy solicitors.

So, Ignore DRP they are simply timewasters, you will get more junk mail from DRP. If you get court papers (not from DRP) please return here.

In the meantime, complain to the landowner as right now the preference is given to one car owners and due to lack of parking spaces, two car owners are being penalised and harassed.
Also check what your lease says about parking and if it says how many cars each resident is allowed ?

Ask the landowner to cancel the ticket

    That seems reasonable

Have you considered moving, or selling one car?

Have you considered moving, or selling one car?????:mad:
  • Thank you for your advice.

G24 were issuing tickets but they were being ignored as the people being ticketed live there and they can't park anywhere else.

The new company is car park management. They have contacted all the residents with stickers to put in their car windows (1 for the parking space allocated and another for a visitor car) but have asked us not to use them yet as they are being amended. I'm not sure whether this will change us being able to park on corners if we have a sticker or not.

The lease says each flat has 1 parking space only, I assume though that's because they haven't allowed any other space to put any other spaces. There is several sets of flat courts next to each to each other in a loop so there is no spare land to create any other spaces.
  • Unfortunately my boyfriend and I don't work at the same place or near each other. He has an important job working in a hospital and is often on call or working late and a lot earlier than me. We both like the flat we live in and is a good distance from the hospital. We wouldn't want this situation to force us out. But if it is persistently a problem then we may have to.
