Ryanair / Opodo Flight Cancellation

Hello,
I have encountered an issue with Ryanair this morning, and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced a similar problem.
Myself and 3 of my friends booked flights from Edinburgh to Dusseldorf on 25/08/16. We are going over to attend a Celtic Champions League match on 1st November. We booked our flights via skyscanner using Opodo - we actually booked the flights prior to Celtic announcing the date of the match, so we were able to obtain a very reasonable price (£62), prior to the costs spiking when everyone else started booking. Within a couple of hours the price had risen to £400. The flight was confirmed shortly after booking.
We have this morning received an email from Opodo advising that after submitting our request to Ryanair, our flight has not been confirmed. It's blatantly obvious why this has occurred - because Ryanair have seen the opportunity to get an additional £300+ per passenger off some other customers. This is completely out of order in my opinion, regardless of what their small print says. We have already booked time off work and arranged accommodation etc.
Can anyone advise if they have encountered this problem before, and if any resolution was reached?
Many thanks
Steve

Your issue is with Opodo. When booking through a third party you take the risk that they do not book your flight immediately, and hence the price may fluctuate. Given that they have taken ten days to contact you, it appears that is what has happened here.
Did you not receive any confirmation or booking reference from Ryanair?
You can ask Opodo to cover the cost of the more expensive flights, but given their poor reputation I doubt you'll get far.
Out of interest, why did you not book directly?0 -

You used a third party who do not have live access to Ryan Air and who did not make the booking on your behalf when they took your money, if you'd have booked direct you would have got the price you saw, unfortunately Opodo have put you on a 'to do' pile and in the meantime prices have risen.
Your issue is solely with Opodo, what T&C's did you agree to at the time of booking regarding price differences?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
When you 'requested' the Ryanair flights from Opodo, the prices showing were likely not live. Did you compare it to the Ryanair website which would have had the live price?
Your request will have gone in a pile for an Opodo member of staff to log into the Ryanair website and fill in your details...this is not instant. If you want to book immediately at the live price, you need to book direct with the airline.0 -
This is what can happen when you book your flights from a dodgy 3rd party site. It's not like there aren't hundreds of warning out there about Opodo (and their sister site eDreams) already. Why didn't you just book direct from Ryanair in the first place?1

It's blatantly obvious why this has occurred
It is blatantly obvious why this had occurred.
But its not the reason you state. As others have said, opodo don't have live access to the Ryanair website. Your booking request will have had to be manually processed by opodo on the Ryanair website. And it sounds like this took them too long and the prices increased.
It's an expensive lesson. For Ryanair it's always best to go direct to their website. No reason at all to use an agent.0 -
It's because when you Google Ryanair top of the results is Ryanair/Edreams.,...Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0

Dear Steve,
Thank you for making this post and for allowing us the opportunity to advise you on the matter.
We would kindly inform you that Opodo works with a live pricing however, eventually, being the fare a subject of availability, it may expire for the time your booking request is received.
In order to advise you further, we would need you to update your comments indicating the Opodo reference code, the long number.
We hope to be hearing from you soon.
Best regards,

How can fares expire if they're live? Live is live, direct through to Ryan Air, there is no 'request' for live bookings.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
