Flat tyre

I got into the car this morning to find one of my brand new Firestone tyres completely flat. I filled it with a compressor but when I finished, you could hear the air rushing out.

Could this be down to anything other than deliberate damage by somebody?

(I drove it back home several miles yesterday with no sign of any problem.)

There's no way of knowing what i could be down to at this stage. Take it down to a tyre fitter and they should be able to see what may have caused the puncture.

Hate to say it and as much as it is going to annoy you it could be anything. The only way is to go to a tyre specialist. Even then they may not be able to tell you exactly what as it may have been dislodged.

Can I ask is there a reason that you would think it was some being nasty? The only reason I ask is that if it was me I would be fed up thinking bu##er Nail in the road not bu##er someone has done it on purpose?

    Could the valve be loose?
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

You don't need a tyre specialist to see a nail in the tread or a hole in the sidewall.

If you can hear air coming out then its a pretty big hole which you should be able to find yourself by looking and feeling the air coming out. Then see if there is anything stuck in the tread that has shifted and now causing the leak. Maybe you parked such that a nail in the tread was stressing the rubber more and hence it leaked,

Usually they wedge a bottle or something sharp under the wheel so you run it over when you drive off. If they are sticking something in the tyre to make a hole they would have done both on that side at least.

Possibly you ran something over: maybe you drove on some chevrons, or too near the edge of the road so you ran over where all the nails screws and debris collect, you could have clipped a kerb, and pushed the tyre slightly off the rim, the tyre might not have been fully seated on the rim, and leaked slightly, now it has deflated it has come off the rim and leaks.

As said, could be lads of things. Put the spare on and take it to the tyre fitters if it won't stay inflated.

If you are worried someone is puncturing your tyres, next time pay the £6 or so tyre insurance- free puncture repairs for 3 years.

    I've been Money Tipped!
When neighbours were having work done on their house I found I was getting regular punctures due to nails/screws on the road.

Yep, jobbing builders. There is usually a rain of screws & nails out of the back of their transit pick-ups as they go along.

Even more come out on corners and islands, which is why you should try to keep your tyres in the tracks of everyone else, and hope they have already picked up the screws for you. ;)

I can't understand how the OP could drive it home with no problem if there's a big nail hole in it which is why I suggested it might be a valve problem.
