I'm Rude?
you comment on a question I ask - without actually giving any help - just inferring that i'm some sort of idiot because I owe a company some money THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN
I was under the impression that this site was for people who needed help - not to be textually abused by strangers for something they know nothing about.
If you have advise re: my original Q I will be only too happy to read it.
until then

We had the same with Powergen, at the end of the day, it was up to US to keep an eye on the meter. Powergen won't let you pay over 12 months, only 6.
Your name is on the bill so it's up to you to pay, it's not Powergen's fault that there's a faulty boiler. Pay up, then take it up with the landlord - he's the one that's caused the hassle for you.Bulletproof0 -

It would appear that you have deleted your original question.
In general terms there seems to be a perception that Utility company accounts should be exempt from scrutiny by the consumer, and hence acquiring a debit balance is solely the fault of the Utility company. So your contention that:
"I owe a company some money THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN"
is debatable to say the least.
It is also pertinent that you have gained in that you have had, and will continue to have, an effectively interest free loan. Not many organisations offer that facility!!
So advice:
Write, don’t ring, and request that you be allowed to pay back your deficit over 12 months – a letter is more likely to go to a manager with more powers.
Be aware that your grounds are not strong and you could, despite your good credit history, have some action taken against you for dept recovery; so don’t ‘push it’.
The other option is to have credit meters removed and a pre-payment meter installed, with it set to recover the debt. As the tariff is higher it is a lose/lose situation for you.0 -
How about paying via direct debit

Cardew - by NOT MY FAULT - it's not Powergens either - it's my Landlords as it was his responsibility to replace the faulty equipment.
thank you for your your advice - I think writing to them is a good idea. Theres no possibility of having prepay meters in as the house we are in at the moment is a temporary stop for 6 months.
I am quite happy to pay Powergen and chase my landlord at my own speed - I just needed advice as to whether anyone had had them agree to a 12 month pay back.
tru - we DID keep an eye on the meter - there was NOTHING we could do until the landlord fixed the boiler. Again - we are happy to pay to get it cleared - there is no way I can scrape an extra £100 a month - £50 yes, just - but £100 no way. I am not blaming Powergen - just wish they were a little more flexible.
