Can i justify paying for a slimming club?

I joined SW when my girls were three weeks old and I've lost 3st 2.5lbs so far. Being on a reduced wage due to maternity leave has made us budget but we find that we're spending less money on a monthly basis on food. Buying a 12 week countdown also reduces the cost slightly.
I'd recommend it, but if you could follow the plan using the materials you get when you join that might be better budget-wise. Facebook groups and the thread on here are a gold mine for advice, as well as Pinterest

Another vote for the 5:2 diet
And from a MSE point of view, you will see your grocery bill fall. I did SW in the past, was very successful too, lost over 6 stone in a year, I did unfortunately put two back on, but lost one following 5;2 in a matter of weeks.
I dont get headaches, drink plenty of water, spend as little time as possible in the kitchen on fast days, have a nap, a short walk, anything that distracts you from food for a few minutes, shower, paint your nails, brush your teeth,
Also you will be surprised how far you can make 500 calories go!
Good luck with whatever you decide 0 -
I've done slimming classes and lost a good amount of weight but as I'm on maternity (I lost my child and would like to be slimmer before further pregnancies) I put the money into a gym membership and use myfitnesspal app. It's free and if you add friends (welcome to add me) they are as much accountability as a class. It is also a little more sustainable as you don't have to motivate your self to come out a warm cozy house to sit in a cold dusty hall listening to someone telling you to not drink sugary drinks.0

Another thing I would consider OP is what does your OH think?
does he resent the money you spend in membership fees or does he consider it to be your 'treat' and spends a similar amount on himself?0 -
I too wanted to lose weight but bulked at the cost of £20 to £25 per month in membership. I took up walking five miles a day everyday, I cut out sweets, biscuits, and crisps. I cut my two slices of toast in the morning down to one, had a sandwich or soup for lunch then ate whatever I wanted for tea. I started this in November and so far have lost over three stone. The £5 a week I would have spent on Slimming world I tucked away, saving over £200, which I spent on new clothes.
This worked for me, but it might not work for everyone. You have to be dedicated to the cause and walk even in horrid weather.0 -
A slimming club will encourage smaller portion sizes and meal planning so you will save more than the £5 odd in fees to be a manner :-)Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less! £196,000/£177560 to go0

I really did not like the SW concept of certain foods as 'sins'.
20 years ago I discovered I hit 10.8, having been 8.10 when I had stared my job. I did the F Plan. It involved making a mixed cereal dish called fibre fill, which became a drag eventually.
However, the problem was that I couldn't stop losing. Photos from that time show me as gaunt. I never got a correct maintenance balance.

I get along with the concept of Syns, but there's a lot of inconsistencies. For example I went to Nandos last week and my book said that the meal I was planning to order would be 9.5 syns. The app said it was 8 syns, and someone who rang the helpline said it was 7.5 syns. I didn't know who to believe! Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Hi
I think weight watchers have an offer at the moment. I think it's £32 for 16 weeks.
I've been having the same debate myself. I know what I need to do but I'm struggling to actually get on & do it. So I've been wondering whether rejoining ww would help me focus.
