Speakeasy free text trigger question

Hello,

Basically I have just registered with orange I think I am with the speakeasy free text trigger, and I was wandering if anyone here was with that tariff too because I dont know whether the o2 genie sim is better ? All my friends are with the o2 genie no-one that I know is with this orange tariff so I'm thinking that it cant be as good as it says it is.

Thanks for the replies (if I get any) lol.

  • The Orange tariff is better than o2 if you make a lot of x-network calls. X network calls on Orange are only 15p, where as on o2 I believe they are 35p a minute.
  • yeah you still get 300 free txts for topping up a tenner - and call charges are better with Orange :)
Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...
  • Oh ok thanks for the reply.

    This is what I understand:

o2 Genie: top up £10 get 300 free texts straight away which last 30 days and £10 credit which you use after, then when you run out of credit you top up again to get the free texts.

Orange : exactly the same except much cheaper calls!?

Am I missing something? The orange deal seams a bit too good to be true.

EDIT: this is whats confusing me on the orange site: "£10 for 300 free texts the following month."
With o2 the you get the free texts straight away is this the same with orange?
  • nope you have it spot on.
  • Wicked! One last question, (I'm probs too over suspicious but the reason is I dont want to be let down by orange)
    1. It will run from 00.00.00 on the first day of the Monthly Period and will end at 23.59.59 on the last day of the Monthly Period. At the end of the Monthly Period we calculate the Reward. Where you qualify for the Reward on the 29th, 30th or 31st day of a month, the Monthly Period will run to the 28th of the next month.
    2. Orange will inform you by text when you qualify for the Reward.
    3. If your total top-up amount is less than £10 by the end of the Monthly Period free texts and data will not be given and you will either go onto or continue on daily analysis. When you are on daily analysis, as soon as you top-up by a minimum of £10 before the end of the Monthly Period, the Reward you have earned will be applied within 72 hours and the Monthly Period will be reset. If you are on daily analysis but do not top-up by £10 by the end of the Monthly Period the accumulated top-up amount will be reset to zero and you will remain on daily analysis.
I dont understand their language. If I dont top up after a month does this mean my top up dissapears as well as the free texts. Also how long will my 300 free texts last? Thanks
  • Bump

    Anyone know please?
  • Quick silly question. I topped up on O2 on 24th August. I have used up my 300 texts and credit. If I top up today will I get another 300 texts or would I have to wait until 24th September? Ie can you only receive 300 texts per calender month?

Your 300 free texts will last for 1 calender month. If you dont top up after a month, your top up does not disappear. The Orange deal is better than the current offering from o2.

You will have to wait. If however you top up by £15 in a calender month you will get 500 texts on o2 (£20 for 600 on orange), and for £30 1000 texts.
  • Soo annoying!! I changed over my mums Orange tariff to Speak Easy Bonus Text tariff back in August (in order to get free texts by topping up £10 a month). But only just recently, she mentioned she was getting charged even for texts. So, I went deeper and found out that the free texts are only to other Orange phones...bastids!!!

So, now I have to change over to this Text Trigger tariff for FREE texts? Skanks.

Can I do this just by ringing them up, or do I need to send off for a new sim card completely (£1 on website)?
