Anyone do anything particularly crafty or cute with their big white dress?

What did you do with your wedding dress after the big day?
Did you pack it away safely in storage, or decide to sell it? Have you ever worn it again?
Anyone do anything particularly crafty or cute with their big white dress?
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

No, I had big dress which would take most of my wardrobe space, I hired mine.
Although my mother's had different end.. It was simple cut satin slip dress with lace on top.. Touching floor, empire neckline and long sleeves. For my sister's prom we coloured the slip ruby red and the lace black.. It was stunning.0 -
The train of mine was made into a Christening gown for my DD.0

First one - 1984 Bo-Peep number complete with blue bows - was found in a bin bag in the loft when we split up in 1999 so was charity-shopped.
Second one - strapless silk from 6 years ago - went back on that internet selling site it came from and I made a profit2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Mine went in the loft for 24 years, which always bothered me.
So earlier in the year I sent it to Cherished Gowns (mentioned in the article).
I feel like I set it free.....:oI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Mine is in a box on a high shelf in a bedroom cupboard.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

I didn't have a white dress either time. First time was a skirt and jacket that got worn for work afterwards, 2nd time it was a black velvet dress that is now my "posh going out" dress.
The amount of money spent on something worn once always angered me."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
I didn't have a "meringue" as an acquaintance referred to them (while asking rather scathingly if I was going to wear one).
I deliberately went for a pale lilac silk dress with bead detail on that I could use again afterwards. It regularly gets an airing when we visit the opera.
ETA the one from first time around was blue, and similarly chosen to be able to wear to "functions" - unfortunately the XH wasn't a "function" type of man, so it never actually got used again.:( When I finally saw the light and divorced him, I charity-shopped it. Yes, I could've reused it for Marriage #2 but I wanted rid of anything from my old life.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
After the divorce (!) I cut up the silk skirt to make a dress for my daughter's 6th 'Princess' birthday party.
I kept the beaded/lace bodice part in my memory trunk (along with shoes/veil/headress) which said daughter wants to incorporate into her own wedding dress (when the time comes!).:j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. I wore the only dress I owned at the time (although coincidentally it was only purchased a few weeks before, so hadn't been worn before) and it got charity shopped when it no longer fitted.
Never saw the point of the big white gown, but to each their own.0 -
Mines in the attic. It would be nice if my DD wanted to use it one day, but she has assured me she will just grow old and have lots of cats :doh:0
