Getting fibre from another exchange?

Evening all. The exchange local to the property we are looking to buy isn't fibre-enabled but the next one along - about 4 miles down the road - is. I have heard mention of people in the area accessing fibre by connecting to the non-local exchange. Has anyone heard of anything similar? I would have thought four miles of copper cabling would degrade the connection to the extent that the benefit of having fibre was negated!

Nope. What they probably have is fibre to the cabinet or FTTC. You cannot use another exchange - only reroute to one temporarily - and it doesn't help speed any as you're still going over the same cables.0

According to Openreach, FTTC isn't available in the area?0

they're all connected. if you have a phone line you have a copper cable to your house already laid. So there is no additional costs for BT to bear for copper lines.0 -

But the OP doesn't want to be connected to his local exchange!Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Sounds like the OP has been fed some BS to me.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

- check via your phone number or Postcode, to find out that you are stuck with the exchange you already have, and what type of services are available from it.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
