How much to charge for ironing service?

Hi, I have been asked by someone I already clean for if I will do her ironing and she is asking for an hourly rate. I have no idea what is reasonable to charge.
I have just done some of my ironing and this is what I can get done in an hour, I have no idea if this is a good amount either haha
Looking for some help on this, thanks

Around here the charge is the same as for cleaning.

I pay £12/hour which is lower than average here. Previously I've paid by weight.

I have asked a couple of local companies and they charge £15 per hour, I thought that was a bit steep

I think if i really put my mind to it, i could iron three shirts in an hour.

Op, if you have asked 3 local companies and they are charging £15 p/hr. So set your rate at £12 per hour or part thereof.

You should get all those items done in well under an hour if you have a steam generator.

    Seriously?

I do a weeks ironing in an hour. That's everything from sheets, towels , t shirts, shirts, jeans, skirts and dresses blah blah

When I used to iron I went by the hour, including pick up, drop off and diesel at the time NMW was around £5.50. I charged £7

Most people got their ironing done for the week at around £17 ( I'd usually get the £3 tip) That would be a big black bin bag stuffed full. All clothes on hangers and lifted and delivered.

But that's here where no one pays more then NMW You need to look at how fast you can iron ( I already had a steam generator iron plus a press) how far you will travel and what the area can support, plus how much of your time you are putting into it. When I done it I was bored at home. Stuck a DVD on and away I went so for me it was just earning whilst watching tv

Ps. I still iron like that, watching the soaps on a Sunday :)

Suki, you iron sheets & towels !!!
You'll be telling me next you iron your socks and knickers.
Clean clothes go on the bed in the spare room, and the pile gets higher and higher, and when i've nothing left to wear, something will be ironed.:o

    I don't iron socks

What's wrong with taking pride in your appearance ?

With a steam generator iron I hang things and give them a vertical blast, creases drop

T shirts and jeans take a minute

Shirts and polo shirts around 5 minutes

Even the king size bedding doesn't take long once folded

I don't have a tumble dryer. Ruins clothes imho. An hour a week to make very thing crisp and tidy looking is nothing

I like to go to sleep on beautiful crisp ironed 100% cotton sheets. I like the bed to look tidy. I like my husband to leave the house in ironed clothes

Even his work clothes ( he's a builder) get ironed and folded and put away

Cuffs might be frayed, pockets ripped away, but what he wears will be clean and ironed

When I was you, free and single, I used to iron everything. Socks, pants...the lot. Now I iron nothing unless I need a smart shirt for a formal occasion. I hang everything up and I have that many clothes that by the time I come to wear anything almost all the creases have gone. Those that haven't, disappear after ten minutes of wearing said item.

I didn't realise you could earn so much by doing other peoples laundry. I may have to consider a career change!
