Are you sure it's not already protected. Most fence wood is pressure treated when you buy it.
If possible, don't treat it at all. Once you've done it once you'll have to keep doing it. Instead, just let it weather naturally. It looks good and blends in.
The part that will rot first is not the panels. It's the part where the fence posts come into contact with the ground. No amount of treatment now will stop that happening.0 -
Our fence panels are pressure treated and other than going silver and having a few stains, are in perfect condition. I'd say they've been there for years. If they aren't in contact with the ground and are decent quality they shouldn't really need any additional treatment other than for aesthetic reasons in which case any decent fence stain or paint will do, just remember once you've treated it you'll have to retreat it.0
