6 Year Rule

I've read the advice provided on the Flight Delays and have submitted my claim via Resolver.
Monarch have now responded to reject the claim as it exceeds 6 years. The date of my flight was 29th August 2010, so I've just missed the deadline by a few days. It was for 4 passengers, so is llikely to be compensation of about £800
The advice regarding 6 years is not entirely clear. Has anyone been successful in pursuing a claim like this. Can anyone from the MSE team advise..
Thanks in anticipation

The 6 year rule is effectively absolute, as you cannot initiate a legal claim after this time (and the airline can therefore decline your case without consequence). So, yes: you are too late.0
