why do you think your bank will refund you

I bought an item not as described, she said I could have taken it back assembled to a store if I'd bought it from a store, but because it's got to go in a van they cannot load it in for H&S reasons unless it's in a box, hence my offer to return it to a store for them. Not unreasonable. The excuse was it came from a central warehouse so must go back to the central warehouse, but it's the same company so I should be able to return it to any branch and they can pick it up from there.

No, I haven't used the BBQ. Nor have I thrown away the packaging if you actually read what I said.

Nothing wrong with how I built it, built to absolute perfection, a crime it has to come down. :)

You probably could have disassembled it in the time you've taken on this thread

Difference is I'm watching TV with my feet up while on this thread, it's called leisure time, dismantling a BBQ is called work.
  • Seems like Argos is trying their best to be reasonable, I wonder how many people think the OP is?
  • Had a quick perusal of the T&C's, can't find anything about it having to be returned in original packaging or disassembled, except for if it's a change of mind under the 30 day money back.

I can find plenty of terms they haven't abided by though. The main one being:

5.2 Sometimes the product specifications from the manufacturer may change, in which case we will do our best to offer you a similar alternative. We may experience problems with the supply of certain products and may therefore supply a substitute of the same or better quality at the same price.

They didn't. So there may be nothing in there about me having to disassemble it and if there is, why do I have to abide by the T&C's when they don't?

What, send the wrong BBQ, 19 day (or more, or never - she couldn't even tell me it would definitely be back in stock?) wait for the correct one, and a week wait for them to come and collect it (unable to give a timescale so must wait in all day), you are crazed? It would be terrible service even if I hadn't already built it.

Just out of interest when Argos, us and your bank tell you the same thing will you finally disassemble this and send it back to Argos or will you take it to the small claims court?

Argos have given you two perfectly reasonable remedies and yet you persist you want more.

I built one of these BBQs a couple of months ago.
No way will it take an hour to disassemble.

its a 10 minute job at most, faster if you have an electric screwdriver.
