  • It is Granny day for Munchkin today so he was happy setting off for school today - we are very lucky to live so close to my mum and that she is such a big help. Me and Button went for a walk and I brought myself a magazine and lunch, which was not very MSE of me but I have managed to throw my back out and so thought I deserved something to cheer myself up.

Sewing class last night was fun and I have something that is starting to resemble a skirt. I does give me a new appreciation of how much work goes into making a piece of clothing thou.

In other news my SIL has found out she is expecting a boy :D. This will be my first nephew so I'm very excited and going to start planning a quilt for the new arrival who should be here by September. Munchkin was also very excited that the family are gaining a boy after 3 nieces and a little sister I think he was feeling outnumbered.

Have a good day everyone x
  • Yay it is Friday :j

We have our usual pizza and movie night later, Munchkin is excited to get another Easter egg that we had to store away as there was so much junk in the house last weekend!

Back is much better today but I think lifting Button is slowing the recovery, lucky she is cute. I have taught her to "mwah" everytime you blow a kiss at her - maybe not the most practical of skills but again very cute.

Hope everyone has a great weekend x
  • No news in the Moomin house really. Button had her 10 month review yesterday and has been referred for a hearing test as her communication skills are a little behind and after what happened with Munchkin the health visitor offered me the hearing assessment to put my mind at rest. She was lovely and said she doesn't think there is anything to worry about but best to just get it all checked.

I should have my meeting with work on Thursday and Mr Moomin has said he will take me and Button to lunch again so looking forward to that. Thursday is also pay day so hoping to be able to make another £340 op in May.

Only other it of MSE news is I am up to £12.25 in my YouGov account so nearly a quarter of the way there.

Hope everyone is having a good day x

I'm glad the health visitor is looking after you and Button.

    Good luck for Thursday :)

  • So we ended up doing something very un-MSE and booked a holiday yesterday for the end of May :o. It is the weekend before I'm due back at work and as Munchkin's birthday is on that week we thought we would just use it as an excuse and get away for a weekend. As we are still unsure about staying in this house long-term we used the long-term DIY savings to pay for it but I think this is a better use of the money tbh.

My meeting with work is tomorrow and I have got all the info I want to put across to try and convince them to let me come back part-time - if I could it would mean we could increase our OPing ability from July onwards so fingers crossed.

Did anyone else have snow? We have had two flurrys yesterday and one about 10 mins ago - and here is me trying to sort through the monsters clothes so I know what I needed to buy for the hotter weather :rotfl:.

  • I'm back and work have agreed to me returning part time :j. It is for a trail period but I am confident I can make it work so fingers crossed it will be made permanent. So first day back is 1st June  only 35 days (if my maths is right!). The year has gone so quick.

As it's payday I have done the usual transfers and have the £340 May OP sitting in the e-savings account ready to go on the 6th. This will bring me pretty much upto my yearly target so what with work agreeing my hours it seems like a good time to set a new updated target - will have a word with Mr Moomin later :D.

Me and Button also had TGIs which was yummy but she missed her nap and is now a little grumpy!!! Trying to fall asleep on me but i think she is past it and now overtired. All in all thou a good day has been had.

    :) x

Congratulations, that is fantastic news! I am so pleased for you. Glad you had a nice lunch to celebrate, and it sounds as though you are steaming ahead with the OPs :)

  • Had a chat with Mr Moomin last night about what we are going to OP in the last half of 2017 and we have agreed to OP £680 a month meaning we should knock a year off the mortgage which would be fantastic.

So my revised target for 2017 OP is £7,194.84 instead of £2,880 . I do like a challenge :rotfl:. Once the May OP goes next month we will have paid £2,774.84 so according to my spreadsheet we are 39% of the way there.

Only thing I'm a bit worried about is the rumors of another property crash this year as we are not looking to stay here long term and had thought about a move next year now everything with work has settled down. Spose as we can't do anything we just need to keep plugging away at the mortgage but I'm a worrier by nature :o.

Anyway I hope everyone has a good weekend to look forward to - I'm off to Glastonbury tomorrow with my mum and stopping in to see some friends who are still down South on the way back :).

Oh a new month - I will have to get on with thinking up some May goals as this is my last month of maternity leave. It all just went so quick!

Spent the weekend getting the kids some new clothes and sorting through their rooms. I really need to start fleabaying or online selling as have some decent stuff that I don't want to just bin. It's just getting the motivation to get started.

I have a top up shop to do this morning once Button is up from her morning nap and need to get the house straighten up after the weekend!

Hope everyone has a good day and a good May :T.

    Morning all.

Button is having her morning nap atm but is very restless as she seems to have a cold working on her :(. Hopefully she will shift it soon but in the meantime lots of cuddles.

No win on the Bonds for us this month but YouGov is up to £12.75. May's OP will be going on Monday so will be able to update signature the week after. I wish the online total would update quicker as I get impatient :D.

Have my sewing class tonight and hoping to get my zip fully in and waistband attached. I reckon 3 more classes and I should be done - at least I m hoping so as I have plans to wear said skirt on my first day back at work. Talking of sewing I have finally started to quilt Button's quilt I started when I was pregnant. Is aiming for her first birthday (end of June) too ambitious? Probably but that is the deadline I am setting.

Have a good day all x
