Is this ex demonstrator, high mileage car good value please....

Can anyone tell me please if £6599 is good value for a VW Golf 1.6 TDI 105 SE 2013. It has 53K on the clock and is an ex demonstrator car. FSH.

Should ex demonstrator cars be avoided?

TIA

    I wouldn't touch a Golf, probably wouldn't touch a VW.

They sell because they have a reputation for reliability, but they haven't lived up to that reputation for over 20 years.

Ex-demo may or may not be any good, demo cars are often used as runarounds by dealership sales staff and often they don't get treated well at all.

Ex Demo at 3 years old? usually these are gone within 6 months. likely to have been a rental/hire car.

It might have been an ex-demo in 2013, but the other 50k miles have been with whoever bought it back then.

with that mileage it is neither ex rental or ex demo. Ex demo's are current models.
If coming from a non franchised garage it may be their courtesy car.
Ex rentals are usually up to 1 year 10000m whichever comes first.

Could be ex fleet or ex motability.

Not always. Avis rented me a 2 year old A4 Avant with 35,000 miles on the clock. At the moment, Car hire companies are holding on to cars a bit longer. Ended up swapping it as it had a slow puncture and the alloy key was missing from the car. Ended up with a Hyundai sante Fe that was 6 months and had 17,000 miles on it. It drank oil like a fish.
  • And, just to be clear, 53K is not in any way high mileage on a car approaching 4 years old. Or indeed on any car.

Thanks for all your replies. Looks like the Golf is a no go.

Can anyone please recommend me a car!!? I have 10K to spend, prefer diesel, high mpg. Good reliability. Nothing too dinky, needs decent storage. Usual mod cons. I'll be keeping the car for some time.

I sold my Nissan xtrail a while back as it was just too big for my needs, researched the ford B-max, but then decided it wasn't for me (hate to admit this ,but just too boring!). I just can't decide what to get now and am totally overwhelmed with the choices! Help!!!!

    TIA

    Is it a mk7 or mk6?

I think its good value either way, though the icing on the cake would be if it was a mk7

I'd a 2012 mk6, it did an easy 65mpg with that engine. I thought it was a great car!
