    You would ask that? Really?

You wouldn't check it on google maps, take a compass with you, or .... just look up at the sky?
As mentioned above - was just stating it in case OP hadn't thought of it in general. Looking at the sky may be good depending on what time of day it is.. if OP has a viewing early morning at one property, but wants afternoon sunshine - looking at the sky during a viewing would be misleading.

  • Whilst you've got your phone out for photos/video check the mobile signal indoors.
Depending where you are i'd also want to check what broadband providers are available, and whether they can get the superfast stuff.
If it's really rural check for tv and radio reception too.

    happy hunting!

frankiebeany - hadn't thought about neighbours! perhaps where Ive been lucky in my previous houses!

Go and knock on some doors and speak to some neighbours. They should tell you what the neighbourhood is really like (as long as they aren't friends with the vendors and have the vendors' interests at heart).

Go to the local shop and speak to the person behind the counter. He will know if there is any anti-social behaviour in the area.

Do this on the first viewing if you like the house. There is no point in going for a second viewing if the area is bad.

How on earth (excuse the pun) can the rotation of the earth be misleading!

Blimey - I hadn't realised there are people who could get to adulthood and not understand how the sun moves during the day.

When I sell I will be arranging morning viewings for my property with north facing garden. Had never considered this before - thanks for the tip off ;)
