Questions when Viewing houses

Have about 10 viewing booked over a short period of time (due to moving a long way away) and so I don't get too confuddled I am going to take a list of questions for each property along with me - so I wondered if anyone had any cracking good questions they would ask when viewing a property?
Any any everything!!

Ask about the bills. I.e how much is your council tax/gas/electric/water
Ask about any troublesome neighbors? (they may not be too forthcoming but might be able to gauge a reaction)
Ask about the general area, like are there particularly busy times/how close is a bus stop/train station
Can't think of anything else just now, but good luck!0 -
It's good to make a list but I wouldn't worry too much on a first viewing.
Once you have a bit of a short list, then make a start on the questions for second viewings. Each property will probably raise its own questions once you've got something tangible to base them on.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

frankiebeany - hadn't thought about neighbours! perhaps where Ive been lucky in my previous houses!
doozergirl - we are moving about 4/5 hours away so will only do 2nd viewings on houses we are looking to offer on we think! Eek!
Flugelhorn - haha! Cracking! Perfect!0 -
I ended up with a spreadsheet to help me remember which place was which, and to help in decision making:
address
price
beds
receptions
weblink
EA phone no
estate agent
action taken (seen, offered, etc)
inside flat (my impressions good/bad, memorable features)
outside flat
works needed
neighbourhood
service charges etc
length of lease
If it's a visit with an EA, they may not know bills, what are the neighbours like.0 -
Which way the garden faces (i.e. south facing = sunshine!!) and also how is the parking.. those were my main questions! We prepared lots of questions for the first viewing as houses go really quickly near where we live so knew we wouldn't get a chance to have a second viewing! Good luck!I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and should not be seen as financial advice.0

Not just questions for the vendors, but your own observations, look around the street and beyond. What's the parking like - Is the road full of cars and work vans parked off-drive, blocking access etc. Is the road a cut through, 'rat run' for local traffic ? Do any houses look scruffy - unkempt front gardens, bins kept haphazardly, wrecked cars waiting to be fixed up ? Are the bus stops vandalised, any graffiti ?0

Write notes on each property on the back of the estate agent details- it's amazing how much you forget when viewing more than one. You can then review your notes when you come to make a decision.Determined to save and not squander!

Fantastic!
Garden direction, hadn't thought of!
Looking around the area is a great point, street view only shows so much!
Videoing the walk through will be so handy yes!
Brilliant - I feel more prepared already!0
