This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
HH - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, but he'll be getting up shortly as he has enrolment day at college.
Dinner last night was wiezner snitchel (sp?), new pots, peas/mushrooms, and cauli in cheese sauce. The wiezner was on offer in L**l - haven't had it before but it was very nice. Tonight we'll be having gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas/veg.
I have all the normal chores to do today - there's a big pile of ironing, but hardly anything in the dirty wash basket, as the weather's been so good I've been doing a load and getting out on the line daily, so will just need to get lot ironed. Need to change the bed linen also.
I will crack on with the chores and just do them at my own pace.
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning Everyone
September already? The year seems to be going in too fast.
Went to visit a friend after work yesterday, she had her 4 year old GS with her so a good chat and played cars for a while. Didn't really do much after that apart from watch GBBO.
No washing today, ironing done (I woke up at 5.15) and kitchen given a quick swish. Going back to the hospice tonight, not been for ages, hoping it's better now.
Hope you are all well, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
It's very blustery outside still, the wind huffed and puffed really hard all of yesterday and it seems set in today too. And heavy rain is due too.
Today I have a compliance training session - riveting stuff - then one about using the Blackboard online system. Luckily today will be 'saved' by a BBQ tonight at a neighbouring farm though I suspect it'll be moved into the huge barn (not the actual gas BBQ grill) as a blanket of rain will be covering us.
Happy Thursday everyone.0 -
Morning folks and thanks for starting off HESTER. The sky was looking very dark when I got up but now pockets of blue sky emerging. Rain not forecast until tonight so hope they are right!
Our overnight trip to Liverpool was tiring as expected and we didn't get home until 6.00 ish last night. Today we are back on the train again. This time it's the visit to St James in Leeds for Mr TA's monthly injection. Need to be out of the door by 9.30. After his scans yesterday they said the results should be with the consultant in Leeds within 10 days, which is much quicker than we were originally told. So hopefully we can arrange an appointment whilst we are there. Usual worrying wait but that's been the story of the last 3 years.
When we get back from Leeds the 3 DGDs are coming for tea, sleepover and looking after all day tomorrow. Talk about a tiring week since coming back from holiday. I'm getting too old for it all.
I've just got some mince out to defrost, ready to cook for tea when we get home. Will probably be Spag Bol, a Bolognese pasta bake or Lasagne. Decisions, decisions!
Have a good day all and (((HUGS))) where needed. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone, thanks for the thread Hester X
Another bright morning here but really quite chilly, I do like these late summer /early Autumn days.
We met up with the lady in charge of Mum's palative care team yesterday and she was very nice, put DM at ease straight away and managed to give us loads of information etc. She has prescribed something for the nausea which should be with Mum by tomorrow, the only thing that she couldn't help with is the chronic fatigue but hopefully that will improve with a better appetite. We are all going over to the bungalow at the weekend to sort through the loft, Mum is anxious that it is sorted sooner rather than later.
Other than watching GBBO didn't do anything last night, am not sleeping well but despite going to bed so tired had another restless night so will try some Nytol tonight.
Have a good day all, take care folks x0 -
TA, keeping my fingers crossed for good results.
Just to add to the comments of the last few days I am now an atheist as a result of all the horrors that are perpetrated in the name of religion, not just terrorist acts but the intolerance of those who profess to believe in one religion or another. Even buddhists who I believed were the ultimate in peaceful people have been committing horrors in the Far East. I know there are plenty of tolerant people who believe in god but I can't any more.
Anyway, we have someone coming today to refinish the marble floor in the kitchen. Luckily DH is home because I'm not good at dealing with people who come to do jobs.
I've been making wristbands for DS' wedding and now he wants me to make bunting for the Pimms table but I need to tidy the sewing room first because it looks as if it's been ransacked.0 -
Morning! Thanks for the thread Hester X
Off to the gym shortly then onto the charity for a few hours. It's quite a busy few weeks for us there, so the time passes quickly. DS1 is just up getting ready for another days labouring. He is at the cafe tomorrow and Saturday then the hotel Saturday night. He has to give two weeks notice at the cafe, so Saturday 10th should be his last day there.
I will make carbonara for tea. Our fridge looks a bit bare but we have lots in the freezer and cupboards. DH has an interview for a contracting/temping job next Tuesday. They want someone who can start immediately so fingers crossed. Such a roller coaster ride I can't tell you.
Gers - enjoy the BBQ X
TA - good news that you don't have to wait long for the scan results. Hope today goes well X
Speky - enjoy your holiday X
Have a good day all

Good Morning chums, another bright day looks like its on the cards here in north Kent .First day of Autumn according to the Met office, must make the most of the good weather whilst we can I guess.
Had a lovely evening last night, the Libraries in the Medway do lots of 'meet the authors' talks, and last night it was David Hewson who wrote The Killing for TV plus lots of other books It was really good and he explained how he decided to use different countries for his books really nice approachable chap.Last month it was Peter James, really enjoy these evenings and its nice to put a face to the name of the writers that I read, plus of course there is the free coffee and natter afterwards:):)
Managed to get all my washing and ironing up to date yesterday at long last which means I can have the rest of the week to 'play':):)
Looking after the DGS today and tomorrow .Tomorrow night we are all going to a footie match at Wembley,son-in-law three DGS plus the youngest ones pal (elder brother is back in Norwich until Christmas ) I'm not a great football fan but the tickets were really cheap and the boys wanted to go to see wembley and a football match so who am I not to please themits their end-of-holidays treat.
