If the metal implant is exposed as you say, then ask the vet before you put anything on it.
To be honest, a wound that deep is not likely to be helped by honey anyway, its just an antiseptic, its the root cause that needs sorting.0 -
Thanks - Zara is on antibiotics and the metal bits are not visible any more. The cause is an infection (pseudomonas came up from the swab results) for which medical grade manuka is very much recommended.
The root cause is the implant which needs to be removed and this can only be done when infection clears up...0 -

I think you should always check with a vet before trying home remedies when an animal is already undergoing treatment.0 -
Are the vets open today or tomorrow to call and check with?0

The order will arrive 8-10 pm tomorrow that is why I said i will call the vets on Monday. Vets were open today and tomorrow but Zara's vet is not in and want to speak to him directly.

Infection looks like clared up now, still a small wound but not deep and should be gone in a week or so.
Still - anyone that has a dog with this kind of dilema?
I am meeting Zara's vet on Friday as if infection clears, why would we need a surgery to remove the implanT Hmmm0
