    I'm still unsure.
    So don't buy.
You have no legal rights with regard such deals and the retailer can choose to remove the offer entirelyif they want to.

    Who is the retailer?

My Appliances offers a guarantee like this, but it is clearly termed in a way that the double difference is from the original selling price.

OP no one can give you an informed answer without the full and exact wording of the offer.

This retailer also says "we promise to match the price and also to "Double the Difference"" which also works in the same way as the company in the OP is claiming.

So it appears that the way the company have stated the offer is what most companies mean by "Double the Difference".

I agree with the company and it should be £485.

Op if you are not happy with that price you have the option of paying the higher price elsewhere

Tbh I don't even know why there is any question over it.

    Did they price match? Yes.
Did they double the difference between their own price and competitors? Yes, therefore quite literally they have price matched & doubled that difference.

They are not offering to price match and further discount the price by double the difference. They are quite plainly just saying that they'll price match it and whatever the difference was between their competitor and them, they'll double it.

The same if someone says "i'll give you £10" and someone says "i'll double it", they're only giving you another £10, not £20.

I suggest that you pay the original retailer £595 then sit at home with your new purchase fuming with righteous indignation.
  • Personally, my interpretation of "match and double the difference" would be the company's interpretation rather than your interpretation. I would expect to get double the difference only.

It might be worth seeing if there are any T&Cs for the price match guarantee which spell out exactly how it works in more detail.

Considering its made excruciatingly clear on their website, why did you feel the need to question it?

Our price for the safe is £300.00
The same safe is offered at £290.00 by a competitor
    The price difference is £10.00
We'll double the difference saving you £20.00
    You will only pay £280.00

They are giving you double the difference off the original price, not off the new price
