Please help, confused about parking fine!!

Options
Hi

Please can someone help me?? I've read the Martins guide on how to deal with parking fines but still find myself confused as to how to handle my situation!

I've received a parking fine letter from a company who manage a site near me for a small shopping centre, they use ANPR and there is signage detailing the rules of the car park! My problem is that I have never properly read these rules and only ever paid attention to the fact that you need to pay if you stay for longer than two hours, so mostly I have always left without paying as an usually never more than this!

However about 2 weeks ago my daughter was involved in a show and needed dropping off at 12 and then we went to watch her show at 1.30. This is where my problem starts! I've had a letter showing my vehicle leaving the site and then re entering the site and their policy states that 'no return within 3 hours' I have never seen this before and had no idea so now I've been sent a £80 fine but if I pay within 14 days it's reduced to £25.

Both times I wasn't there for more than two hours, this is purely because I have broken the rules I was unaware of! I had no choice in this situation, my daughter had to be dropped off there and we had booked tickets to see her show! I'm not sure if this really warrants a valid excuse??

My partner just wants to pay the ticket but I said that I've seen these kind of situations on here and am not sure!! I'm scared by writing letters to these people and Am not very eloquent!?

Please can anyone offer and advice?

Thank you

That's a first, anpr actually seeing an exit and return.

What must not return within three hours, the car, the driver, or both?

They would struggle with this in court, although the IAS would no doubt support them.

These are BPA operators and the second stage appeal would be via POPLA where this can be beaten.

Much depends on your attitude to defeating this and undertaking the essential research and work to try to kill it off. We will help, but there are no 'off the shelf prescriptions' for you, other than the initial appeal template (primarily for the purpose of obtaining a POPLA verification code) which is available to access via the newbies FAQ sticky - your first port of call in your research work.

You might want to weigh it all up to fend off a £25 charge. No one here will tell you to pay it without hesitation, but you do need to consider everything before deciding whether to pay or fight.

As The Deep often says, fighting these charges isn't rocket science, but by the same token, neither is it painting by numbers.

In that case you should put a bit of work in, this could end up in court. Read the stickies, all acronyms are explained therein.

    this was your first mistake

that information is old , out of date, full of inaccuracies and events have made most of it useless for any events in england and wales

the forum staff have been told to remove it or rewrite it but these requests have fallen on deaf ears

read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread written by coupon-mad, about 3 threads down on this forum , that is more or less up to date and much better advice

plus follow the advice in the previous replies you have been given too
