    Morning all,

Tru - love the link :)

RR - Hope they move on soon, even if they mean no harm, a group of strangers in an unusual place can be unsettling for those local.

I was up and out early, shopping done, washing on - bathrooms to be cleaned and invoices to be sent.

We had some horrible local news - apparently there is a cat killer on the Island, bags of body parts have been found and another poor family found their pet beheaded - I do hope they find the person soon, they obviously need help, and it's scary to think what it might escalate to.

On a cheerier note, we had a lovely day yesterday, even though hubby had to work in the morning - I was woken with coffee, yellow roses (my fav), chocolate and posh wine - and a flannel - it's our second anniversary, so cotton. I got him a rare bottle of port he has been banging on about since we came back from Porto ;) I'd splurged on an M&S meal deal steak and profiteroles - just lovely ps thanks for the congrats - hope those of you that we're celebrating had a great day too X

DS is off with friends to go and see his new student house, I have a list of 1000 questions for him to ask - only 3 weeks to go and he'll be there - I,m feeling sad and worried about him coping - I know he'll be fine, it's just me fussing....

The sun has just poked through the cloud, so I had better get the washing hung out - have a fab day all X

Good Morning all and gentle healing hugs for those in need. Weird isn't it how so steamed up virtual complete strangers get about a persons private beliefs as though its their personal business

I have my beliefs, which I wouldn't dream of insisting were the 'right' ones for everyone, they are mine, and mine alone.

If someone wants to worship someone or something else , as far as I am concerned they are free to do so.Don't need input from me or anyone else.

Weather looking good again today I have the day off from the boys as my DD is off and taking them to get their new school blazers this morning. Just as well as I slept a bit awkwardly and have a rather sore back this morning, just taken some Ibuprofen and hope it will wear off.

We came 3rd in the quiz last night and it was nice to see my friends again I have another jaunt out tonight to a local library where an author will be talking about his books. Our Book club arranged it,trouble is I can't remember the name of the chap and I'm pretty sure I haven't read any of his books ,still I'll find out tonight no doubt.Fingers crossed my stiff back will improve a bit before then

Hope you all have a smashing Wednesday ,halfway through the week already and its September tomorrow !!!

    Cheers chums

It must be so worrying knowing you have a dangerous piece of equipment in your kitchen. Well done on getting it replaced.

Dishwasher is whirring away and am having a browse on here with a couple of cups of tea beside me. DD is coming down tonight so want to make sure the kitchen is nice and tidy.

If I do a large batch cook later then I have time to get everything cleared up. I might even try out my steam cleaner.

    Tru

I hope your knee improves soon.

    Hugs to all

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's very dull and overcast here this morning but is forecast to stay dry at least. Hubby has gone to the hospital to see a consultant about his tummy troubles and the girls are flapping about as the hairdresser is coming here in a minute. I also have shopping being delivered this afternoon and DD15 has a couple of friends turning up any minute now, phew!

DD16 is going to her school after she has her hair cut to officially enrol in 6th form. She is a bit nervous but is going with a friend so she will be fine. I will be pottering around busy doing nothing :D.

We are going to have jumbo hotdogs for tea, they are comedy sized and all I have to do is fry up some onions to go with them. I made liver and onions last night which was a lovely and cheap meal.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Back to work for me today, I ran out of things to do by 11:30 so I came home.
DD1 has hurt her neck and is trying to get a chiropractor appointment, I'll look after the children if she manages to get one.
Stirfry chicken and noodles for tea tonight, because I'm feeling lazy.
The washing is on the line, and the DW is chugging away.
    Have a good day everyone
    Hugs Hester

Islandmaid, have you been to the Port Institute in Lisbon? Oh my...It's a portophile's idea of heaven! What port did you buy your DH? We like Ferreira, which is hard to get in the UK but our sort-of local independent wine merchants stock it :)

Hi everyone. Went to doctors this morning as my antibiotics have finished. She said it will take at least another week to get over my bout of flu. I'm just to rest as much as possible and not do too much. Hoping I'm better to go back to work next Wednesday.
Nice and sunny again so will get a sit outside.
Hope everyone has a good day.

I got him a bottle of Cockburns 2011 Vintage single Quinta - 2011 was the last year declared 'vintage', but we were told that 2015 might be next. It was really hard to get hold of over here, Portugal must keep their good stuff, can't blame them

We didn't get to Lisbon, spent the week in Porto, managed to get to see a few Port Houses, but Ferreira was closed the day we tried to go there - really lovely tours and very informative, we hope to stay in the Duro Valley next time :D

Thank you all for the collective indignation on my behalf; it was some years ago, when I'd only just been diagnosed with lupus and really, really needed some support and reliable information on what to expect, so was disappointing to meet with such narrow-mindedness.
Still, I'm used to living with lupus now, and I have you lovely folks for support.:A

Tru I loved that - thanks for posting the link. :T

Had a chat with DOH last night and have decided there is no way I am going back to that company, given that the Directors attitudes and the haphazard way the place is run its not somewhere I can see me being long term. So will let the manager know today as he will need to start recruiting asap.

LW can't say am shocked at some people's attitude towards your beliefs, am a pagan myself and have come across a fair bit of hostility over the years, one person even went so far as to say I practised black magic  righty ho love. I would never question another persons beliefs, we all have a right to our own spiritual or agnostic lives.
Firstly: I am certain that place will not remain non-toxic for long; I think you're right to decide not to return. Onwards and upwards!

Re Pagans - you know as well as I do then, that given a room full of Pagans, you'll have at least half a dozen different ways of looking at the Universe. :D As far as I'm concerned, a person's beliefs are their own and as long as they're nice to me, I have no issue with them.:o

OH was walking Evie over the fields last night when two 'travellers' (with a mangy looking poor lurcher type dog) came up to him in a threatening manner and asked if he wanted to sell Evie, OH gave them a very short answer one of the words being 'off' they scuttled off but a load of them were camped over in the corner of the field the police were there too, its a shame because I wont feel safe walking over there while they are there, and its normally a great place for dog walkers, lots of single women and elderly people with their dogs, if they start feeling / being threatened it will be horrible
    Well done to DD. :T

That's awful re feeling threatened when out dogwalking; is there any way some of the local dog owners could arrange to go for walkies together? Safety in numbers, so to speak. I hope the "travelers" are gone soon.

We're lucky here; the linear park is great for dog-walking, and you rarely meet anyone unsavory; for dogs who don't get along with other dogs, we have another route, along the redways - what few dogs you do meet are generally on a lead. I know a vast amount of the local dogs by name, in any case. :D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
