Passed driving test today - need insurance help!

Hi All
As the title says, my 17 year old dd passed her test today. :T
Martin's guide for young driver insurance seems to be geared towards those with their own cars, but she will have to share my car.
To date, while she was a learner, she had her own Marmelade learner driver policy on my car, and I had my own separate policy.
Is that possible now she has passed i.e. for us both to have our own separate policies on the same car?
Or is it cheaper to have her as a named driver on my car? Or a "black box" policy?
Thanks
Maureen

Whilst you wait for replies ask your insurer how much it would be to add yourdd to your policy.0

Congratulations. It's one of the most nerve rattleing days of your life. Now you can really learn to drive.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

My insurer has quoted £1000 just for the remaining 8 months of the policy! I only drive a Fiesta0

Possibly cheaper to buy her her own car. A cheap runabout just in case they have little parking dings etc.
i wouldnt want that risk with my no claims.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
£1000 is very good for 8 months insurance for a newly qualified driver. £2000 is not unheard of.
If you want to put your daughter on your policy, I would put your and her details into a comparison website and cancel your current policy when the new policy starts. If your current policy renews in 8 months time she won't have 1 years no claims bonus when it renews. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -

Yes.
Many insurers will allow drivers to take out cover on cars owned by their parents
Hers will still be expensive!0 -
Hers maybe double the £800 you were quoted. Plus the headaches of which policy do you claim on if something happens with neither of you at the wheel.
Someone crashes into it whilst parked, or you find a scratch that neither of you think you did, do you claim of your policy or theirs?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I hadn't thought of that!forgotmyname wrote: »Hers maybe double the £800 you were quoted. Plus the headaches of which policy do you claim on if something happens with neither of you at the wheel.
