Trying to cancel TalkTalk Fibre Contract

I have a 18 month tv / broadband / phone contract with TalkTalk which i renew every 18 months, but May last year i took out a 1 year contact for Fibre Broadband ( to try it out) In November last year my main 18 month contact had come to a end and i renewed it for a further 18 months.
Today I rang TalkTalk to cancel the 1 year fibre broadband contract I took out in May 2015 but was told it would cost me £280 to cancel as I’m in contract till May 2017, as when I renewed my main 18 month contract in Nov 2105 it takes on board the fibre contract too!!!
Surly these are 2 separate contracts I had 6 months left on that 1 year fibre contract and they turned that into another 18 months! Can they do this?

It's likely they just renewed them both at the same time - very hard to prove that you never asked for that0

Surely you can only have one broadband service per phone line.
How many phone lines do you have?
As there doesn't appear to be a consumer rights issue here, perhaps this thread would fare better on The Broadband & Internet Access Board.0 -
The fibre contract would replace the broadband, so when you took out the fibre it upgraded the broadband. When you renewed it took the fibre into consideration as that's what's now running in your home.0

I would suspect that you upgraded your existing service to fibre in November 2015.

Broadband is class as free in the 18 month contract which was running at the time (may 2015) when i took out the years fiber contract, the 18 month contract run out 6 months later and i renewd that then, i feel they were totaly separate contracts, that seemed to be merged into one now.
The worst of all the 18 month contract i have now comes with fiber free if you take it out now!No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

Your response doesn't relate to my post, does it?
Again, how many phone lines do you have?0 -
Then you are only being provided with one service.
Are you currently paying for two services?
I pay for the package deal where normal broadband was included for free
And I also pay a charge for fibre so there are 2 charges on my billNo Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Sounds very much like you have an addon service/upgrade.
In other words, if you didn't have the fibre add on, you'd get regular broadband for free included in your package but you pay a premium for the fibre.
As for the services renewing, check the T&C's of your contract to see if they have t&c's covering it.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
