Ooo, that is lovely, pity it's £180, but looks worth it for such a special occasion.0 -
This is a brand new windsmoor maxi dress at Oxfam for 40 pounds. Would look lovely with a jacket, white or brown, or sleeveless on a warm summer day, Plus size.

Okay, what about a more Grecian style dress, maxi, covers the top up well, hides the stomach area nicely? But still glamourous!

A dress you can wear again.0

Dear MSE Towers, it doesn't matter how many times you promote this as "discussion of the week" on Twitter, it's not that popular. For a start the OP asked this question not this week, not last week, but 18 days ago. Twentyfive replies in 18 days is not a particularly lively thread.

eta. And two days later you are still promoting this on Twitter despite nobody having added a new post, informative or not!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Hi
Don't do the expensive 'meringue' dress... wear a great version of whatever makes you happy, whether a floaty dress, trousers, 'lagenlook' layered outfit (Oska, Crea Concept etc - even from EBay if you're on a budget)... whatever you will feel really special and comfortable in on the day.
Have a fabulous day!0 -

I love that one too. It's gorgeous.0 -
When I got married a couple of years ago (age 40, 3 children in tow, second marriage for both) I got a top and skirt to match from Holy Clothing. American based but worth the extra effort0

I got married this year, we're both in our 50's and like you didn't want a big 'circus'. My two grown-up sons were walking me down the aisle so I wasn't prepared to have a 'wedding' dress, but I did want to look special!
I first looked at a dress from Collectif - they do some stunning stuff. Lots of 1950's styles that really suit curvy figures. It's also worth checking out their eBay shop as they often do ends-of-ranges on there for low, low prices.
In the end I chose a gorgeous full-length beaded evening gown from John Lewis - ordered on-line & collected from my local Waitrose, so easy peasy! And because it's an evening gown not a wedding dress, you can wear it again.
They have a sale on at the moment so there are lots of gorgeous ones to choose from.
And remember, just because it's a wedding doesn't mean it has to be white or cream! I went for a black and red number to match hubby's waistcoat, & it looked stunning. There are lots of others on there, and the JL website allows you to filter by size, length, colour etc so a doddle to find one for you. There's a lovely Adrianna Papell fully beaded gown on there for £128 (sorry, I'm a new user so not allowed to post the link!)
My other tip would be, if you're going to wear heels then buy dance shoes - they are designed to support the foot better so you don't get such aching feet. Makes such as Katz and Capezio are good. Try these:

Whatever you choose, enjoy your day! xx0
