Want to Cancel Sky, but still want to record?

Hi,
I'm fed up with Sky and the continuous price rises, have been with them for years and never get anything offered from them, it all seems to be for new customers.
The problem i am having is who to go with that will still enable me to record TV.
I looked at some of the boxes now available but none seem to record?
The area I live does not have cable so anything from Virgin is out.
I'm with TalkTalk for phone and broadband which still seems to be a good deal, its just TV, I need to get rid of Sky asap.
Can anyone recommend a box etc where I can get a decent amount of channels and still be able to record programmers, is there such a thing??
Thanks

All PVR boxes, like the Humax brand, record, often two programmes at a time, just like the Sky box. The newer ones even have catch up services included. (Are you confusing these recorders with Now boxes, which do not offer a record facility?)
Regarding Sky not giving anything to long standing customers....They don't. They give to those who intend to leave and make a cancellation. I have never paid full price and would never pay more than half.0 -

Oh maybe I am getting confused with the Now boxes, its a minefield, Ive read so much on boxes lately Im totally confused??
Sky have put our package up to almost £60 a month, and thats just the basic + sports, so it has to go0 -
If you want to record programmes , then a Now TV box isn't appropriate, you could get a freeview + or a freesat + box , these are a good option if all you want is 'free' channels, and the ability to record programmes on them, if you want to still view some 'premium' channels and record them, then Youview from BT or Talk Talk could be the thing to go for,0

Bought a Humax box after cancelling Sky. Works brilliantly and wish I'd done it years ago.
Box cost £160 and take maybe 2 minutes to install as it is just the two feed wires to swap, even the power supply cable is the same.0 -
You could get a refurb from humax for a few quid less...http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/refurbished.html?tv_platform=245I would love some decent telly on a Saturday night0
