My parents are around 15 years into taking their DB pensions and the indexation capping has already become noticeable. Although it sounds about right at first glance the problem is that some years you get lots of inflation (and get capped) and other years you don't get much at all so the result is that even if the long term average stays at 2.5% you will still see your spending power reducing.
Thanks Alex, that's interesting. That is another reason that I should maybe take the maximum lump sum with my main DB pension, as I might be better off with lower annual pension and more invested.
  • My cash funds I have been waiting on have finally cleared tonight, so I have put £2000 of it into my S&S ISA for topping up EAT on Monday morning, during the wobble it was -20% down from I bought earlier this year, it has recovered some to -14% at the moment, still cheaper than what I paid. Regardless I will buy at Monday's prices and I also see my EAT dividend have hit my account as well.
