Transferring Slides to Digital Format

The old Minolta Scan Dual and comparable Nikon models do an excellent job of scanning slides and negatives but drivers haven't always been updated for newer operating systems. VueScan comes to the rescue here as it provides its own drivers for a huge list of 'obsolete' scanners. If you want to do your own scans it's worth looking for a 2nd hand 'quality' dedicated scanner (preferably USB rather than the increasingly rare serial connection) and using VueScan to avoid manufacturer and OS drivers.0

Of course, another way is to get a projector (usually a pound or two on a car boot sale), project the slides onto a clean white background (clean bed sheet hung up, as long as it's kept taut), set your camera up on a tripod, making sure everything is level, and photograph them yourself.0
