I have some old Kodak slides of pictures from around 53 years ago that I would like to transfer to a digital format.
Can anyone please recommend a firm that can do this who will carry out the work to a high standard.
Thanks

How many do you have?
There are modern scanners that can produce decent copies which can be improved (scratch removal etc) in photo editing software.0 -

Your local Jessops will see you right if you have only 750

If you're handing them over to someone else to do this, don't hand them all over at once. Do them in batches.
There are plenty of excellent slide scanners in the market. Those made by Nikon, Canon et al, I doubt very much have issues with 'quality'
My inclination would be to buy one of these, do the slides, make a backup of the files, make another backup, then sell the scanner on eBay0 -
I've no idea about the quality of the work, but this appears to be a service that your local Snappy Snaps will offer:

Have a look at Asda's legacy services. They did a load of slides for me not so long back. File sizes weren't perfect, but neither were the slides.0

I bought one of the cheaper slide scanners from Maplin, and it's OK but not incredible. So it depends on whether you want to keep your slides because they're incredibly good photos, or snapshots of memories. My scanner (£20 I think) was good enough for the latter, but not for the former.0

Thanks for your replies. I am thinking of submitting to this company who seem to have pretty good reviews.

Are they close to you, such that you can take your slides to them? If not, think carefully before committing them to the tender care of the Royal Mail.
And, regardless of what you do, don't leave all of them with any of a postal service, courier, or the processor. Do them in batches.0
