Talkmobile Refused Me Credit - I Have Excellent Credit Rating

I tried to purchase a new mobile phone contract yesterday online only to receive an email from Talkmobile shortly after stating that they had run a credit check with Experian, and on the basis of that check, they could not take my order any further.
I was bemused by this as I have no credit issues so I signed up to Experian to get a copy of my credit score rating. It came back as an excellent score of 997 out of 999 with no negatives against me or my address whatsoever.
How good does your credit score have to be to get a £13 a month phone contract with Talkmobile???
Anybody else had these issues with Talkmobile? I would be interested to know.

It might be something as simple as not being on the electoral register that has caused them to refuse you.
Remember, your score of "997" is essentially meaningless and just how experian rate you, each lender will rate you under your own criteria. So having excellent credit, but being off the electoral register or something equally as basic could be enough for Talkmobile to refuse you.0 -
Your score means nothing.
Do you have a history of managing credit?0 -
Hi Simon67,
I agree with some of the other points made here, a lack of history would be as difficult for a future lender to assess as a bad history. However, I am not sure that is the issue here. What could be part of the problem is that you also don't know which credit agency Talkmobile used - have you checked all 3 credit files to see if your history differs at all? (This can be the case).
Several searches on your file can also be damaging so if your file so if you have been looking for a mobile for a while, and have applied for a few then this could be damaging your rating as well. But these should come off in 12months. Good luck,
Laura

Did you manage to resolve the issue with TalkMobile?
I am in the same situation with TalkMobile. TalkMobile are refusing to provide any specifics of why I am being refused, apart from it is linked to my Experian credit report. I have looked into my credit report and cannot see any issues, with Experian themselves giving me a similarly high credit score (I know it ultimately means nothing but is at least indicative).0 -
Well Simon logged off 2 minutes after posting and has never come back. So it seems he is not that interested after all.0

and he did use the words "email from Talkmobile shortly after stating that they had run a credit check with Experian, "
so why should he chase the other CRAs ?
it was Experian that gave him the bad reportSave a Rachael

Just shows you what rubbish a credit score is. Mine is bordering on poor/fair with Experian but never stops me getting good deals and always getting good promotional offers on my cards.0 -
Same here mines fair/poor and been accepted for an Amex card.0
-
mine is also fair/poor due to my percentage of credit used in Stoozing.
I have no problem getting credit because the credit history shows extensive evidence of managing credit well, no bad behaviour, missed or late payments, AP markers, etc.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans
