OS Daily Monday 29 August

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

It's very foggy outside so I hope the sun will burn it off.

I'm off in about an hour to take my weekend visitor down to the airport for her flight home, she loves near East Mida airport so not too long a journey. I'll do a little bit of shopping whilst down in Glasgow but not much.

Yesterday was fabulously hot and sunny day though that may have been the last for us in the Bonnyland.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday for those who have one.
  • Morning all

    Thanks for the thread Gers.

I've made £70 on ebay and now just waiting for some of the payments to come through. I will pack up the items that have been paid for and post them off tomorrow. I've also listed some other items and have some watchers on those too.

Yesterday I cleaned all the mirrors in the house, there are part mirrored walls in the bathroom and ensuite, they both look better now.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a bright morning here, I got up early again to have a potter round and plan my day. Everyone else is fast asleep because they were all up really late last night for various reasons.

This is hubby's last lie in for a while as he is going back to work tomorrow after a couple of weeks off. He was being very grumpy about it for the past few days but I have countered it by being relentlessly cheerful :rotfl::rotfl:. It didn't help that during the last Windows update the driver for his keyboard completely disappeared and he couldn't play his new game. He had to use the tech support in the end and after several hours they managed to get it all working again.

I'm going to make Mum's Marvellous Monday Mix-up for the girls for tea. Basically it's a risotto with all the leftover meat from the weekend in it. The girls have this as one of their favourite meals. I will cook hubby steak and chips to try and cheer him up a bit. Tomorrow I will be making morrocan lamb casserole in the slow cooker and I am hoping that DD16 will do a bit of baking for her sisters.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning All

Dry and bright here for now, no washing to do. I've just spent the best part of the last hour trying to get the internet to work, sky are aware of the problem but I think I need to phone them again today. Really annoying as the radio doesn't work without wi-fi.

No bank holiday here, hope you enjoy yours if you have one and the weather is kind to you.

Made a hot water bottle cover yesterday and am quite pleased with it, just need to get a hot water bottle to fit it now, it seems to be a bit early for the shops to stock them.

Salad made for work today, will take something out of the freezer for tea, I think I fancy salmon for tonight.

Have a good week. Take care. XX
  • Morning folks. Quite a decent forecast for today and the sun is already shining. Despite yesterday's dismal start I got 3 washerloads of holiday/beach stuff dry outside. The first load was put upstairs to dry when it looked like rain, which didn't materialise! So now there is an ironing mountain to tackle sometime.

The shopping got done too so now there is food in the fridge! Plus a few bargains stowed away in the freezer. After a week of Full English Breakfasts and three course evening meals (with lunch inbetween!) the pounds have crept on so some healthy eating is called for. Starting with avocado and poached egg for breakfast, which was becoming an addiction and I have really missed it!

I need to get a bag packed later for our visit to the Royal Liverpool tomorrow for Mr TA's diagnostic scans. The appointment is actually early Wednesday morning so, as usual, we are going the day before and staying overnight in The Liner. We have reserved seats on a late morning train and will have a wander round Liverpool after we have checked in. Then an early evening meal in the hotel restaurant.

I made a big pan of curry for dinner last night and there is enough left for tonight too so a no-cooking day. Lunch will be some cold meats and salad I think, with maybe a few baby potatoes.

Have a good day all and (((HUGS))) where needed. Take care xxx

    Morning everyone,

Beautiful day here, wall to wall blue sky and its forecasted to be nice all day, girls are already walked and I am now enjoying first cuppa of the day.

Yesterday was a quiet, easy kind of day which was good, even had a nap in the afternoon which is unlike me but I do feel rested.

Mum felt well enough to go to my brother's yesterday, will see her today at the family get together which am very much looking forward to. We will make sure that Mum is sat in a shady spot and not overwhelmed by too many people at once, she will be like a queen holding court :rotfl:

Another one here TA who needs to start being a bit careful with food, I tend to comfort eat and have put on a couple of pounds so will follow the BSD principles as that really suited me with loads of veg, pulses etc.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x
  • Good morning chums,

I can hear the urn slowly heating up in the other room, patiently waiting on my morning coffee.

Hope you're all well and had a nice weekend. I had a great one which meant I had some time to myself to do various things, productive one might say. Nothing particular to note though other than I'm walking like John Wayne as my legs are still really sore for the gym on Saturday!

Not doing much tonight I don't think, or at least I hope.

Today is my penultimate day in my current job which I'm now glad of. Looking forward to having a break between my new job too. Just what the doctor ordered.

Morning all, a lovely bright morning here.

When I came down I could hear rustling from outside and ended up having to go out and re-bag the rubbish - two massive seagulls had ripped the bin bag to pieces. Not that there would have been much there for them, a few scraps perhaps but perhaps they were trying to get at bones, which were wrapped.

OH has gone out to buy the paper, he's gone all the way to Mr M because the local newsagent is having the day off (apparently Mrs newsagent has put her foot down).

I need to do some cleaning and then some work.

Morning all, thanks for the thread Gers X

It's nice and bright here in Kent and we have a lovely breeze - my kind of day :) Everyone is still asleep so I'm having a nice quiet cuppa by myself.

Hoping to go to a NT property today and take our dog. We took out yearly membership in October and have only been to 3 places so we need to get our monies worth. Will have lunch before we go/take sarnies so will only buy an ice cream whilst there. Also need to stay out of the shop.

Need to wash all the towels, so that's two loads worth, otherwise the house looks pretty clean and today.

Lainey - have a great day with your family.
    Gers - safe travels.
    Dumpling - risotto sounds yummy.
Hester - you have spurred me on to sort out stuff to eBay, thank you x
For those working today, hope you have a great day, and Speky, bet you're counting down the hours until you leave :)

  • Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, one load of washing done, waiting to go on the line. Monday partial clean to do, will just swish round the hand basin, the bath is coming out on wednesday, no pint in me doing that or cleaning the floor. OH has bagged the vinyl for the floor of the shed, so will have to make sure it does not go out in the skip.

OH is up, we have just finished breakfast, first time at the table for brekkie for 5 weeks. He seems to be coming on ok, although I have just had to have a go at him over a remark I knew was coming.........

Read the meters need to put the reading in. The solar panels do make a difference. Friend yesterday asked if he could have one of the storage heaters when they come out. I will see the contractors, not sure if they sell the metal cases or not.

Right off to get on with the day.......................
