Passport stamps

I went to Spain when I was 11 and I just checked my old passport and it didn't have a stamp in it. Does your passport get stamped when you leave the UK or when you arrive in a foreign country, does it stamped on return?

I don't understand. Do the Cayman Islands stamp your passport?

With a British passport you will only have it stamped on entry and exit of non-EU countries, such as Cayman islands. UK entry and exit involves no stamping for Brits.
    Evolution, not revolution
  • I've never had a stamp in Norway and they are not in the EU

eDicky should have said "will have it stamped on entry to non EU and EEA countries, so Norway, Lichtenstein and Iceland, and as an added bonus Switzerland, which is neither EU or EEA.

Oddly when i flew into San Francisco 5 years ago i never got a stamp, much to my annoyance, as the Immigration officer was too busy chatting to me about my job and forgot to stamp me in

Ask nicely and immigration will still stamp passports.
  • When visiting Berlin, you can get the old Checkpoint Charlie border stamps, from a recreated border post, on Friedrichstrasse.

If you happen to have an old passport (issued before 9th November 1989), and you have that stamped, the stamps will appear correct.

So are passport stamps mandatory or not? Is it random? I'm planning to go on holiday with a few lads but don't want my passport to get stamped otherwise my mrs we know I've been partying it up lol.

Can I just request they don't stamp it or what? Do they stamp it if you go to the States?

You can "request" they don't stamp it but it's up to them whether they do or not.

If you asked me not to stamp your passport id refuse.

The stamps in your passport help the immigration officer make a decision on whether they are going to let you into the country or not.
