Felt like having a bit of a vent.
Aldi are selling a 32" Full HD TV/DVD Combi
Surely, when it's Full HD (1920x1080), it should be fitted with a Blu-ray Player?

Why? Are you saying a DVD can't provide full HD?0

Because thousands more people use dvds than blu ray discs?0

But a Blu-ray player also plays DVDs, and to a better quality than a DVD player.0 -

Is this the tv that's £149. You seem to have high expectations of what features such a tv should have!0 -

Blu-ray players aren't that expensive, these days.

I imagine it's a lot more expensive than putting a dad player in a cheap tv.0 -

People don't want something they don't need. The more features a product has, the more there is to go wrong. If people want to play a dvd they'll look for a dvd player. A retailer such as Aldi will demand to the needs/ wants of the majority.0 -

Aye.
Also, DVDs are the most popular choice and it is almost expected that a TV has a built in DVD player these days.
If you include a Bluray player then your production costs go up, and either you lose out on money by selling it at the same price or you up the price for consumer (not competitive with other retailers).
If you replace the DVD with a Bluray then suddenly you've alienated a large chunk of the market! Also, you lose out on money in the long run because people who want to watch Blurays would have bought a separate Bluray player from you!
If VHS was still popular then I'd fully expect the statement to be:

Is it expected that most TV's have a built in DVD player these days? Its not something i've seen that often when I am looking to buy a Sony, LG or Panasonic TV0
