I suspect this will be a busy day for OP whether exchange happened or not.

I am sure we will get an update soon enough - fingers crossed its good news and common sense has won through
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
  • Nope, we didn't exchange  Buyer failed to show up at her solicitor's office to sign anything today and no one could get her on the phone all day. She eventually called the estate agent at 6pm to say she'll 'try' to do it tomorrow!!!!!! Needless to say I've cancelled the electrician and will be speaking to the solicitor first thing tomorrow ....:mad::mad:

Call the bluff. Tell your solicitor and EA you're putting it back on the market.
  • It makes zero sense ... She apparently 'desperately wants' the house and reiterated that to the EA this evening but either doesn't grasp the fact that you can't just get around to exchange when you feel like it with a chain waiting, or something weirder is going on. Interestingly her dad was apparently on the phone to EA this afternoon screaming that he'd just heard from the solicitor that exchange hadn't happened and to ask ME what I'm playing at - EA apparently took great pleasure in telling him that I signed last week and it's his daughter who's done a no show.

Thanks for the update (several of us were wondering).

Sorry to say it, but it might be time to run away.... or, put it back on the market at least, that will get their attention.

So sorry - moving home is one of the most stressful things you can do even if everything goes right, but your's sounds like a particular nightmare and you have my sympathy. Good luck!
  • Haven't read the plethora of threads in detail, so apologies if duplicated but:
40 year old woman's father is interfering? Electrical inspection after exchange when she will be committed anyway?

Forget it, knock £90 off the price if you really want and let them get the electrics inspected at their leisure. Or let them lose all their legal fees so far plus their time and effort for £90 ....

I don't think I'd do any further negotiating with these wassocks.

What a bunch of clowns the pair are. I wonder if daughter has got cold feet? "Try" doesn't cut it does it?

I agree, tell EA it's back on the market, in the highly unlikely event she exchanges tomorrow you can always take it off.
  • Thanks everyone, you're all saying what I'm thinking really ... I want to tell her it's off tomorrow, see if that then inspires her to exchange and if she does, we then have zero time to sort out the electrical inspection (we would be moving out Friday) but I would knock £90 off the price so that I've at least kept my side of the bargain.

Sleazy - I love the word wassock, you've made me laugh for the first time today!

You need to be firm. They either sign tomorrow or it's back on the market. Quite simple.
  • My guess is they were hoping that the electrics survey would be done tomorrow before she'd agree to complete because you either couldn't cancel the inspection at short notice or wanted the sale at any cost and would let it be done regardless of today's shenanigans...
