Not delay but inflight wrong dietary meal given

Options
So we went away back in April to Florida and flew with Virgin my youngest is lactose intolerance meaning she is allergic to dairy products. When we checked in online noticed there was a lactose option so thinking great this makes our lives so much easier we checked it on the form this I do have a record of both flights there and back a different meal appeared for her but it was full of dairy eg cheese and crackers, a bread roll with butter, pasta bake with cheese and even cheesecake spoke to a flight attendant as I knew there was nothing lactose free about it but they had nothing else so we had to give her bits from ours mainly dry bread rolls I did complain to virgin heard nothing at all so emailed again finally a response offering a good will gesture of 1000 virgin club miles not even in the club lol! But they said they checked the reservation and we had not booked her lactose meals but we did and have proof via our booking confirmation email I'm so angry how lapse Virgin have been not sure what to do next!

  • What is it that you're looking for?

If you checked in 24 hours before this is too late to book a special meal, they need at least 24 hours. If you checked in earlier than this then they messed up, but realistically an in flight meal costs a few pounds. Would that be preferable?

As its not a delay - Why not post it in the Flights Forum, which is probably the correct place?
  • Ok thanks for your help and yes we booked the inflight meals way before and if we would of trusted it to be lacto free as it said on the meal she would of been extremely ill

But it was clearly not lactose free so you wouldn't have chanced it. She was never going to be ill, at worst she was hungry. I would normally suggest that the crew should have found her something else, but that would have been a bad idea as they could not guarantee other food to be lactose free either.
