Oh well after all that she got a letter from her bank rbos and was awarded the life changing sum of £350!
All that time for that, and she told me she still has to pay a fee off that as she lost the first round of paperwork that said no fee under £1000 claim.0 -
I've yet to see any Claim company offering to charge no fee if the redress is under £1000.she lost the first round of paperwork that said no fee under £1000 claim.
It's generally "no win, no fee".
However, if the paperwork genuinely stated that there would be no fee under a certain amount, then you should complain to the Legal Ombudsman if the Claim Company are refusing to honour this alleged clause in the contract.0 -
Well after all this i phoned my own bank and asked them straight and after keeping me on hold for ten minutes came back and said i had been missold ppi on my mortgage of all things???
She said i only had it for twenty months though which is even more strange and was stopped in sept 2004.I genuinely did know anything about this so made a claim on the phone after answering ten questions she said i should expect receive a letter in the next eight weeks.Gobsmacked,i will wait and see what happens now probably pennies but better in my pocket than theirs.0 -
Did they actually say over the phone, "mis-sold ppi" or simply that you had ppi?and said i had been missold ppi on my mortgage of all things???
In most cases there's nothing wrong with MPPI.0 -

Did you perhaps change mortgage at the time?
Did you get the MPPI through the bank or with a mortgage broker?Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

It is unlikely that the bank would know about it if it was through a broker.Did you get the MPPI through the bank or with a mortgage broker?
As far as suitability is concerned, page 15 of the good practice guide of the Mortgage Code Compliance Board says
"The importance of this issue cannot be ignored. Customers are to be advised of the options available to safeguard their income and mortgage repayments and the advice should take account of and be tailored to their individual circumstances. Although the importance of protection insurance cannot be stressed highly enough, it is also important that customers are not oversold protection, especially where they already have some protection in force. If customers do not wish to take up protection insurance, it is 'good practice' to have them sign a disclaimer to that effect."
However, whilst I have a copy of this, not everybody does. If HSBC don't, or the complaint handler is unaware of it, you might get away with it.0 -

Just seems a bit odd they'd cancel after 20 monthsSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

Iam going to quote myself here as this just gets weirder.Well after i submitted my own claim by answering ten questions over the phone for ppi i apparently had on my mortgage i that i took out in jan 2003 and was stopped the end of 2004.Now out of the blue i got a phone call from someone else at the rbos telling me they are investigating a credit card as well. This is after the girl telling me i only had it on a mortgage. This is from march 2003 until june 2005.I genuinely did not know anything about this until he phoned and iam quite annoyed by his tone and cheeky questions i.e did you have any saving in any other bank at the time and how much did your partner earn among others. What annoys me is that out of every bank, credit card company (and there are lots) i have dealt with over the years the only one that managed to pull the wool over my eyes are the bank that i have been with 30 years?
It now looks like they are trying every trick in the book not to repay it.0 -
2003 is when i took out the mortgage although i know nothing of agreeing to ppi.0
